[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
When I was a child I was fairly scared of the sea, due to the huge waves in Rio's beaches. My father was in the navy, and he used to take me for some chilling swim where fair amount of water was swollen.

Years later, living in Saudi Arabia, I met scuba divers that introduced me (again) to the deep waters. This was it! I cannot describe the feeling of breathing underwater. I felt in love straight away and a year later I was (padi) dive master.

Life in Saudi Arabia wasn't what one would define as a real delight, so my friends and I, we use to spend most of our free time underwater. 2, 3, 4 times a week, we were there, exploring the marvelous Red Sea (it's called Red because of the massive amount of coral reef). Wreck dives, deep dives and specially night dives were just blinding, so rich and wonderful is the sea.

If one goes down with some bread, and specially some boiled eggs (fishes, they love it) you make acquaintance and friendship really fast.

I could sit in a rock for an hour, and literally witness a massive cloud of fishes, of all kind, struggling for a bite of boiled egg.

Scuba diving is a must do once in a lifetime. Take this advice from a former scared buddy!

I recommend Sharm el-Sheikh in Egypt, and of course the Barriers Reef (Australia).

Critiques [Translate]

Nice shot Bruno! I wouldn't have thought about bringing a boiled egg for the fish... You've done well here, the flash has enabled the colours to stay accurate, but it's nicely balanced with the blue from the natural lighting! I don't think there's anything I'd change here at all - good work! :-D

Oh, i know the feeling Bruno. The first time i went scuba diving, wow, what a feeling. I loved it right away. The second time, still loved it but...i broke a bone in my ear (not every day that happens) and now there is no more diving for me, doctors orders :(.

I love watching pics like this though. The light is very nice as is the colour of the water. Boiled eggs ha...who would have guessed. Great picture Bruno.

Great shot, Bruno. The blues and yellows are beautiful. I like the way the second fish is minding its manners and patiently waiting for its turn. Well seen and captured.

Such a great informative note. I went under water in Cyprus, so can appreciate your feelings. Great capture with good colours. The expression of the face sdhows great happiness. Well done.

Splendid.... the colors the light on the fish and diver's face and the composition with nice diagonal lines. I like that you caught the pic just has he was blowing air out of his lungs, the bubbles on each side of his face are neat.

Lovely blue color of the water, the map anglefish is a bit on the greyish side, but it doesn't really matter...

BTW Bruno, Do you often forget your mask when going diving? remember the buddy check first ;-)))

What were you doing in Jeddah, I thought this part of the Red Sea was unfortunately closed for diving?

Great shot and note, I am off to Sharm el Sheikh this year, but before I go am leaning to dive as a mate at work is a PADI instructor. Do you have any diving links for the area that I can take a look at before I go ?
