[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This time just a bit of documentary from me. This is taken during my vacation in August, while waiting for the ferryboat to Istanbul, very early in the morning (6 am). I liked the way the ferryboats emerged from the haze in the distance.
I thought it might look good in B&W, so I tried the conversion that JP Candelier told us about in the Forum. Here is the link, if you didn't get to read it:

Apart from that, cropped, framed and resized.
Thanks JP!

hi marija,
a nice b&w,I noticed that even from the thumbnail.the mist on the air gives a strange mood on the people and it's your advantage in this compo that noone has an eyetouch with your camera.
regards

well done very cool shot! i think the balck and white looks great here. keep it up :0)

The b&w conversion seems very good. I'll try the same process. The composition is fine too. The image is divided in two parts of approximately the same size, but the contrast between the lighter top half and the darker bottom one is very effective. Thera are in both part point of interest - the two ships approaching, particularly the closer one, that looks huge, the people waiting for them on the pier - that keep alive the interest of the watcher. Overall, a very good picture.

Another cinematic photo! I really love the boats and their placement in the composition. Perfectly parallel on the first boat. The fact that they are each lighter and lighter gives a nice 3D effect. I love the guys all standing and walkind around. Very nice job! JP

I like de picture. There's an interesting mood and documental thing on it. But for me, the contrast is the best part of it. COngratulations.

Really great photo Marija...you've more skills than I thought and that I've...now a documentary style ;-)
My compliments Marija and I hope there would more to come.
See you around...

Jos

Hi Marija.. So strong shot really. And i know this feeling waiting the ferryboats :) Strong front part and light tones at back on ferries makes the shot so impressive..
Elif

Hi Marija, this is a great journalism shot nicely composed and excellent choice for B/W.. Well done

Chris

Hi Marija,
Nice shot. There's something about this that's unusual. I guess it's because the foreground dock doesn't look so nice (I mean, it looks rundown) and then you have these big ferry boats seemingly appearing out of nowhere from the fog...and people are turning their attention to it...almost as those boats are there to take them to a better place... Hmmm... strong mood.
Well done.
Richard

Very nice daily life scene, Marija! You are right about the boat coming out of the haze is what makes this picture. I also like the fact that most people on the quay don't seem to pay much attention to the ferry coming in. Very nice elongated format with good framing. Excellent!

very nice compo maria :)
the ferry in the hazy distant is awsome
very good DOF

Excellent result Marija. The ferries in the fog look great, creating an impressive atmosphere with the passengers standing in the foreground.

C'est très réussi! I like this kind of back and foreground. Samething for the people in front, curious to know what are they doing...waiting, working, walking..??
Very good!
Guy

I really love the treatment you have given to this one. The composition is excellent and the b&w plus grain gives it real atmosphere.
