[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
As of today ,17,461 members from 157 countries are 301,181 photos and have written 1,797,667 critiques.

The community is growing so fast , it is impossible to visit every images posted daily. Despite I consider myself an active member, I have to admit it is tough to organize work , photography shootings , photo digital processing works, TL and all the little things we have to do daily.

But I do have a lot of fun publishing and exchanging with members. But do not push me (^_^)., like the tug seems to do to me here ! Sometimes I need a break ( like lately …. ) to catch up with other personnel things. For the last seven days , I am working on my PC to do some clean up and transfer loads of files, photos, etc…

Some days I prefer to post critiques, sometimes I feel like trying a workshop or two, Most of the time I try to post a shot myself. I visit the gallery randomly , sometimes I visit my colleagues, who took time to write to me. Although I have to avoid systematically doing that. Nevertheless, we all have friends and favorites, and yes I am no exception.

As of today . I am priviledged to be chosen 214 times a favorite member . I am extremely honored by your good taste (^_^). Seriously , I am delighted my images are touching you. Technically , I ever never had any photo lessons ( Perhaps I should have taken some , it would have saved me a lot of films in the good old days ) Since I bought my first reflex camera back in 1974, I always had fun in shooting. The high price of films and photo processing slowed me down in the 80s and 90s , until 2004 , when I finally bought a decent digital camera. Since then, and thanks to Treklens and you guys , I have rediscovered the pleasure of photo shoots, and learned slowly some digital post processing. I hope indeed one day I will have the pleasure to own a bigger camera and zoom.

I thank you for your support and help in the process. Some of you noticed , I do not participate , much in the forums. Although, should you have a question about a photo, please do not hesitate to communicate with me , either through the posted photo , or by contacting me through my intro page..

In a few weeks, I will be celebrating my third year on TL. I am really getting old, since I am joining the Top Five in the number of images posted by members. Thanks to Adam to have created this friendly monster. I am still hooked after nearly three years. Thanks to YOU , my fellow members.

Technically here : Back in the Port of Becancour . No the tug André H. was not pushing me. No zoom used here . In fact I took my widest angle, and I was standing on the edge of the dock. She was against the dock wall . Why ? She was pushing against the wall to clear the ice from the corner of the basin , to allow the MV Federal Pioneer to dock at section 4. A few minutes after , she left her position to secure herself to the port quarter of the ship to bring her alongside.

Corrected the horizon 1 degree clockwise. Therefore cropped the image a bit . Level, and contrasts adjustments. Resized , framed and titled. Filtered with Neat image. Have a great weekend everybody!

Congratulations if you had the patience to read all this (^_^).

ciao ciao Marco

Bonsoir Robert

Serge

Hi Robert..the clarity and details of your pictures in general is really exceptional. You have a great eye for composition and manage the post processing better than almost anyone...congratulations.

Roger

Bonjour Robert :)

Marylou

great to see this tugboats again Robert, i like the sharpness of the image.good composition.
well done.
regards...........andres

Dear Robert,

You are popular because you post quality photos and write good notes and critiques. In many ways, the quality of the notes are more important than the quality of the photos. In fact, I find the most popular "photographers" are often people who have established a following due to their writing ability. There is nothing wrong with that. (And good writing does not exclude good photography- in your case, you do both well).

BTW: Having a "better" camera impacts little on the quality of photos posted. Your results are a perfect example of that. I wonder if your photos will be any better with a "bigger camera and zoom?"

I hope you will continue to be positive force on TL.

Kind regards,
Randy

Hi Robert,
Ahh- what staggering stats. You are by far one of the mainstays and deserve every comment, critique and view. A wonderful portfolio that you have shared with all. This posting is no exception. Thanks for all your images. Julie

Nice summary of TL and your journey in the process as well as posting this impressive image - this of course is why you are the favorite of 214. Of course there are still approximately 17,200 members who haven't selected you as a favorite. But who cares.

cheers

dan

Dear Robert
This image together with your title and your most amusing notes are well understood by those of us who have been around a while.
Like you, I now have to choose the limits of my activity on TrekLens and sadly can no longer post on a daily basis. I can understand why Magda chose in favour of posting rather than critiquing toward the end of her membership here.
Like you , I have to apologize for not critiquing every one of YOUR images! I see them all and love them all.
This one I like enough to ask whether I might copy it to use as a background on my desktop for a while. I like the tight composition that gives the feeling of pressure/pushing.
Great colours as usual -- some day I hope to meet you in person so we can actually talk about how you achieve your wonderful depth of colour

P.S. thanks for your very kind words on my latest: "Simple Miracle" on which I still proudly use the frame inspired by you.

Hi dear friend,
great title for it! I love the angle of shot.
Sometimes we all need a break to catch up with our duties...
You are a gifted photographer and you don't need technical lessons...
the photos are made from your sool - that's why they are favorites.
All my congrats and respects for your 3th TL anniversary!
Many more to come so we keep see your beautiful postings and learn from you.

Have a lovely WE.
Ioana
:) soon
