Taken just after my previous post . I noted the crew were working on the helipad at the stern of the icebreaker. They just opened the retractable garage and they moved back the helicopter.

I am speculating here , but most likely the ice observer was going on a tour to survey the ice conditions in the sector in order to issue the next ice chart and ice reports such as these:
1 ) Harbor Ice Chart
2 ) River Ice Chart
3 ) Daily Ice Bulletin
4 ) Special Ice Bulletins

These bulletins are broadcasted on the Marine Radio, on Internet and are also made available to river pilots, agents , ship operators , etc... The charts are available on Internet. Very convenient to seafarers.

Now for the interpretation of these technical charts and bulletins ; please visit the Guide where you can learn the Egg Code and The Colour code to read and understand the ice charts. Note all these are available in English and French. Of course the ice terminology can be useful too to identify various types of ice.

Technically ; Image uncropped. On purpose , I underexposed it a bit to reveal the details of the whites. Once again, because of the ice floes , you have only a glimpse of ship's reflection in the water .

Thank you for the great feedback on yesterday's post.

Back later tonight with my own homeworks (^_^).
Cheers!
Robert

Hello Robert!
Lovely colors here, and you have made a very good composition.
As taken from the teaching book of the rule of thirds, or something like that.. :-)
Great contrasts and sharpness.
Well done!
