Good evening !

Hummmm , We are here in the middle lof another snowstorm ( and a gorgeous one ! another 30 cms of snow expected in about 12 hours ).

My little contribution to the Friday's theme. As I like to publish ships, I thought of presenting thing this one a bit differently. Graphically , and litterally in black and white (^_^) No grey ! ( LOL !).

The MV Orsula , a croatian ship sailed this afternoon from Becancour . The tug Avantage is pulling her out toward the the exit of the basin. It was blowing and snowing heavily. It was rather difficult to keep my lens clean. I will add a few shots as workshops, so you can enjoy the view.

Note ; A crew member is standing on the forecastle. It is his silhouette we see close to the ropes,

Technically, to reveal the shapes and get a more graphic composition, as the sky was not really interesting. I boosted contrasts to the max . Converted to B&W. Cropped the right side. Reduced and framed.

I will be back tomorrow , if you do not mind . Four sessions at the gym this week , and a lot of work at home. I need a bit of rest tonight .

Good night !
Robert

Hello Robert this is literally black and white, no other tones, it's composed well but I think there is a little too much white area, you get a sense of size with so much of the ship out of the water. TFS rgds Necip

Hi Robert,
Great PP work, you must be the first to do true B&W, it works well, well done
Regards Andy

hi robert.
strong view here due to the use of only black and white...althrough there is a bit of gray - in the left-up sides of your frame :)
nicely done with the compo - the ropes between the big and small ships are the secret here imo.
excellent contribution to the theme, congrats.

ps. the radio antenna on the top makes me think to the "Titanic" :) but where is Leo di Caprio ? :(

I love the silhouetted effect of your high contrast image, Robert. It reminds me of artwork called Scherenschnitt, very popular in Germany. In English it is sometimes called Papercutting.
Superb composition and fabulous PP work

Salut Robert, j'aime bien ce traitement N&B, les contrastes sont vraiment dramatiques, excellente contribution au thème, bravo et merci !

Ahhhhhh very interesting Robert. The only B & W I noticed in the Friday Theme done this way. Leave it to you to think of this technique. Bravo.

Dan

Bonjour Robert,

Bien vu

Hello there Robert

Nice one... a very litteral use of the Black and white here and the first image i have seen in this style within the theme. Excellent choice of shot and the black really enhances the feeling of size and power on the main ship. Very artisitic and effective work.

Lovely capture and an excellent idea for the theme

TFS and for joining in sorry for the delayed visit.

Kind regards Helen

Wow- how dramatic this is. A wonderful B&W posting of this beast. Nicely composed Robert. TFS Julie

Bonjour Robert,
Erik

Hi Robert! Very nice POV and perspective. The color conversion and B&W contrast is very good. I like the pen & ink effect in your pp-work.

Hello Robert
