Don't know what you are going to think of this photo.
I have started experimenting with settings. While playing with the neighbour's dogs tossing snow balls at them, I finally managed to catch this shot.

Not easy to focus on running and jumping dogs with the snow falling, so I am rather happy with this.

Please pleez pleez be honest with your critiques and tell me if this could have been improved

Hello Dot
Very nice snap shot of dogs in action - that is always nice time to spend outside with man's best friend and play.

Hi Dot! The thumbnail caught my attention as I am a dog lover! This is just a splendid photo of dogs having fun!! I love the action, the "actual" catch, and the placement of dogs in the frame.

This one brought a smile to my face. I just love it!

tfs, Lisa

Lisa

Very funny and beautiful composition seeing the German sheppard
dancing in the snow. Natural colors and good clarity, only you could have given it a sparkle more contrast but it is a very nice view
I like the pose of the black doggy too :-)
Greetings
John

Hi Dot,

And what a lovely snow ballet you have captured here.
The cold is radiating out of my computer screen, although the dogs seem happy enough to play.

What a funny capture Dot!! Fantastic job keeping room above their heads, as well as the poses. I think that with post processing it could use some saturation, contrast, and levels to make it a bit more brighter and happy looking. It looks really dim to me.
Otherwise, it's a great picture!

hi Dot

Lovely dogs in play mode with nice jumping action. Well done.

Hello Dot,
What maybe is most amazing is you capture them both mid air..!!
And I'm impressed, handling camera and snowballs at the same time and get away with this great image...
Greetings,
Pablo -

Fantastic shot~! Really made me smile. I love how you have captured the movement and fun they were obviously having. Gorgeous :) Helen x

Hi Dot,

Great shot! Two dogs in air. I like it very much. Good job!

Greetings

I just love the dog action here, Dot, you can capture such great ones, they are well framed and the composition real good:) I think the snow is a bit too bright so featureless at some places and those dogs also should be a bit darker. please see my workshop?
Jacline

Interesting view. It's not easy to catch those beast in full motion. You did it well. Congratulations and regards.

Bonjour Dot

Hello Dot

Those two look like they are having a blast.
Nicely balanced and well timed to capture the action.

Bonjour Dot,
Une belle photo prise en mouvement de ces deux chiens qui jouent ensemble, Très difficile à prendre un photo comme Ça;) Excellent cliché et les mouvements sont très bien arrêtés, well done.

Hi Dot

That looks like fun! This is a well composed shot and you have great timing to capture the action. excellent exposure, good DOF and the shutter speed gave you a nice sharp shot

Karan

Wonderful capture.
The WS really improved it.
Still a very good action capture.
Composition is very good considering that you can't pose this :-).
Image is just a bit washed out though.
Well caught.
Pierre

Hi Dot.
Thanks for looking at my pics. I had a good look at yours and thought they were very good. This one is my favorite. It captures just the right moment. How many throws did it take to get it right?
Cheers Codge

Hi Dot,
A great action captured here very well. The picture is quite clear inspite of the constantly moving dogs.

Hi
Wow!!!!!!!!!Great shot!
Congratulations.
Anna

funny picture, I guess it was difficult for you to catch this moment... great shot:)
tfs

well I don't know how many experts would have been able to achieve creatingv the scene AND catching it too.... surely catching pictuires in the whiteness of snow is difficult enough as it is , if i were betetr at Post porcessing i might be able to try something with saturations, i leave it to those in the know
ciao for now... and so long

Hi Dot,
You did a wonderful job of capturing these animated canies in their winter frolick. I think the dead grey winter sky works to your adavantage making the darkly colored dogs more prominent. Excellent focus to this fine action image.
Regards, Tom

Hi Dot, this is a lovely shot, the interaction of the dogs is just great. One problem i found in some of your shots is exposure. I don't know if you use an automatic or manual mode while taking your shot. But if your using manual, here a trick, the meter of your camera, always think that the object is grey, so if your aiming at a scene with a lot of white, just remember that your camera think it's grey, so if you take a picture, you have to let more light come in, using a slower shutter spead, or a bigger aperture. ex: from f8 to f5.6 or for speed from 1/125 to 1/60. Same principal for darker and black objects, but doing the opposite, the camera give you an exposure and think it's grey, so you have to tell..))) the camera that it's darker and cut down the amount of light coming in..like from 1/125 of a second to 1/250. experiment you'll see it works. One last thing..high contrast (ex: bright day, and snow) has a range of 5 from black to white, so here it goes..black, dark grey, medium grey, light grey, and white. Just remember that your camera always think it's medium grey.
Now for the critique of that photo..)) lovely action shot, the focus is good, the composition is good, so to me it's worth a big smile....))just underexpose than push to much to reveal details in the dogs. (p.s. Hope you get well soon.)

Hello Dot!

Wonderful shot, at the right moment! Well done! TFS.
I like farradhim's WS!

Your composition on this shot is PERFECT Dot, perfect timing here, they look like that are dancing, love your pp work on this! Thank GOD you didn't use a flash, I had flash photography, even though it would have caught them more sharper in action, sometimes it's just better to do it this way! This is a great stop action photo!

C'est une très belle capture. Le plaisir est au rendez-vous et vous avez bien saisi l'instant.
Bravo

hello DOT
amazing shot
You had a good control over shutter speed.
a brilliant shot.
You were right, its not easy to get a shot like this.
brilliant.

Opps i am finished with smily today, will come back sooon.

don't they feel cold? in our city all year no snow, but i always put clothes for them except summer. for cleaning and for keep warm of their bodies.

All paws in flight! Unfortunately I have not done any photoraphy in the snow, but I suspect exposure is always a challenge. You have managed to control good exposure on the Shepard with sharp detail in his coat. I suspect that a little detail has been lost in the snow, but this is not a problem. Great action shot!

ok, to be honest, i think its a bit too white, i dont mean the snow, the dogs are just a touch over-brightened, but apart from that, the action and the capture itself is great :)

ha ha ha
very nice!!!

Hi Dot,
Very nice snapshot, details are excellent as well as colors
Well done
