Hi Roger,
This is certainly a very nicely done black and white portrait composition. I really like the natural expressions on Caroline and a lovely smile. The black background really goes well with this black and white composition and this shot is a nice example to show how well the rule of thirds work in portraits.
I am just a beginner and am learning ... I have done a portrait debut my self recently and would love your input.
Have a look -->

Hi Roger,
Stunning B&W shot of Caroline, great focus on the subject and nicely positioned in frame. Good use of the diffused lighting coming in and the black curtain worked well for you. Cheers

so very good shot. Bigger aperture really makes wonder on portrait shoot. Nice use of soft light. The model is so pretty.

I like the way you used the absolute most of the allowable dimensions of a shot, here - this seems bigger than the average TL pic and the added impact of that is most welcome.
She has such a natural and charming smile and you've captured it well. The available light was certainly very nice - if anything, I might have turned her a tiny bit to her left, so that the highlight fell on her hair but not her nose and chin, thus keeping the same diffuse light on her lower face that we see on her eyes.
Great off-centre placement, beautifully simple and pure background, and perfect management of the shallow field of focus.
Once again, mastery of the art!

Hi, Roger -
Another great portrait of Caroline - she is really very photogenic. Where do you find these beautiful and interesting subjects? The black background provides a great contrast to her light hair and complexion. The details are nice and sharp throughout. Natural and appealing smile. Nice one!
This one is very nice, I like the black background. Good lighting and detail, and once again a beautiful smile. TFS

hello Roger
how are you friend?
interesting post and a good conversion
you have used the light innovatively and perfectly. like the pose, her smile and the treatment, good idea of using a dark bg to provide nice depth of field
thanks for sharing

Hi Roger,
I love the off-center placement, as well as the balance--and frame fill--of her cocked right arm, really adds quite a nice feel to the.
The natural light enhances what seems to be a very natural smile and the B&W composition works well.
Very nicely done,
Thanks,
Wilt

great shot, and an impromptu one at that. the depth is very fine, and i could swear this was a studio shot.
i see you have a very fast lens there too.
cheers!
