[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
More flowers from one of the lilac bushes Diane has in her garden.

This has been an awful boring weekend. Raining on and off all the time.

This was shot during one of those dry periods.

Lilac flowers
Lilacs flower on old wood, and produce more flowers if unpruned. If pruned, the plant responds by producing fast-growing young vegetative growth with no flowers, in an attempt to restore the removed branches; a pruned lilac often produces few or no flowers for one to five or more years, before the new growth matures sufficiently to start flowering. Unpruned lilacs flower reliably every year. Despite this, a common fallacy holds that lilacs should be pruned regularly. If pruning is required, it should be done right after flowering is finished, before next year's flower buds are formed.

What a pity flowers can utter no sound! A singing rose, a whispering violet, a murmuring honeysuckle--oh, what a rare and exquisite miracle would these be!

PS: Would be great for next Friday theme too :-) P.

Iso.

Interesting framing Pierre and most suitable. Good colour in teh flower with fine details. One flower I haven't seen here and yet they grow well in sandy soil back in Western Australia. TFS,
David

Hi Pierre,
I was surprised to see the Lilac just now in bloom. A few weeks behind us. While I was in northern New England last weekend- the daffodils were just in full bloom. This is a beauty. I can smell it from here. Ahhhh-- Have a great day. Julie

Love the flower! Hate the smell!!... I had a lady come to my office one day and she about killed me with it! I could smell her coming, and she was there about an hour after she left! YUK! Gorgeous picture!
