This is another in my series taken in the Midway (where are the games and rides are) at the Canadian National Exhibition. This toy dog was one of the prizes to be won and I like the look he had waiting for someone to come and take him home :).

Because of the strong backlight, I used a fill-in flash to slightly brighten the face.

Tech: Captured in raw and adjusted levels, contrast & saturation in raw with PhotoShop CS2, converted to jpg, cropped slightly from right and top, burned out some distracting light bits in the BG, resized, sharpened and signed

Thanks for looking and for all your critiques, workshops and suggestions. Have a healthy, happy, and safe week.

I love the light here Silke! Backlighting can be such fun when you do it like this! Wonderful colors, excellent sharpness here...You balanced the levels well!!

It's good and sharp, lighting's worked out well with the fill-in and backlight.
The eyes are just like those of our labrador - and he's real!!!
Cheers

Great verticle shot of this toy dog Silke.
I like the jet black background and backlighting is a great touch.

It's sometimes rather amusing the amount of money people will spend trying to win one of these, much more than they would spend at the store :) He's very cute though! Thanks and have a great Sunday!

I want to win this fellow, Silke. What a cute little character, wanting a new owner.
Nicely composed image of him leaning over the chair.
I wonder, do many people win these toys at fairs like this?

Impressive portrait of the cuddly fellow - such sad eyes well captured. Did you bring one of these guys home. Cute.

Hello Silke,

You have captured the detailed expression and the detailed texture very well.
I was going to suggest a w/s but Chris has already beaten me to it. That extra bit of brightness and contrast really does the give it that 'punch'.

Kind regards,
Bev :-)

hi Silke

Going back to become a child and young at heart again, right?

Very sharp and good choice of light direction for this well composed poster shot. OK, submit your assignment by Friday noon! (joking)

Hi Silke
So simply, so beautiful.

Hi Silke

Maybe I would have adjusted the levels with more brightness & contrast in the shadow areas, at left, to give a bit more punch. But the backlight at right is superb. Tfs!

That fill-in flash did no damage to the textures of this dog - a relief Silke to see this pictures, the other ones were really a bit scary - strange.
Looks as if this dog is contemplating the circumstances under which he is hanging here.

I think the fill flash worked well Silke. A soulful expression and the toy well situated within the frame,
David
