Oh had my only day off until sometime in September yesterday, and decided it was the perfect day to go to Waterton. Not much hiking, more wandering around taking pictures and lazing around at lakes.
Here my son and I decided it would be fun to try and skip rocks. Well then I thought hmm, I wonder if I can get a picture of a skipping rock?! It kind of turned from skipping rocks to throwing rocks. Otto got in on the throwing part as well as I tried getting pics. All in all it was a good day but now back to life and work for me!
oops forgot to straighten too eager to post I spoze!
Hope you enjoy!!

A VERY cool experiment Christan! Hey girl, you keep whippin my tail at Bejeweled! HAHA! Love the freeze frame! I hope your camera didn't get wet here. How can you stand the beauty? I would faint if I had to look at this everyday! Have fun!!

Hi Christan,

Good to see you again, Excellent landscape.
The colors and details (rock) are beautifull. Sharpness and splash are great.
Good job.
best regards.
John

Bonsoir Christian

Très joli et une capture bien réussie au moment décisif

I don't think you need to worry about the slightly skewed waterline, it could be straightened but it's barely noticeable.

You've done an excellent job in the composition here - beautiful layers: rocks, water, mountains, sky - all in strong parts of the frame, with the splashing water nicely offset and beautifully clear.

Perhaps next time a faster shutter speed would freeze the moving water even better and make them look like glass sculptures rising up?

Great idea though and beautifully executed - well done!!

wow what a great idea, yes slightly tilted but who cares haha, the sharpness, the colors and details are wonderful, i think i see the rock ( a blur in the centre in front of the mountain?) awesome low pov too, very creative!!!
thanks scott

Hi Christan...nice shot...I like the splash effect....well done.

ciao Christan..
what a paradise.. interesting also the action on the water..
natural show is simply fabolous.. with an enchanting atmosfere indeed!!
great capture! thanks
ciao Marco

A good experiment Christian that turned out well.
An interesting freeze frame of the moving water with a beautiful backdrop of the mountains.
We will forgive the slightly skewed waterline!!!
Tfs, regards Jean.

Hi Christan - nice view, great idea with the low POV..

2 things spring to mind - the horizon is tilted down to the left. Sometimes that can be used effectively, but it has to be seen to be deliberate which this doesn't appear to be.
Secondly the DOF - even at f10 isn't enough to get the stones in the foreground sharp which for this scene and idea I think that they need to be! Not knowing your ISO here - but I would suggest increase ISO,F stop and still keep a fast shutter for a frozen water splash..

I would recommend a tripod for setting these shots up too..

Anyway - great idea, beautiful scene and nice to meet you on your recent self-portrait recently too.

Cheers
David

Hi Christan
This is pretty cool....no pun intended....great timing to catch the water as it splashed up. The scenery...well it's beautiful because it Waterton.
