Early winter ... and I'm not happy about it!
After a less than ideal summer on the Canadian prairies, we had an exceptional September ... temperatures into the 30's celcius. Then October came, and so did snow!!
It's quite unusual for us to have snow this early, and even more unusual for it to stay. I'm still hoping that it will disapear and that we'll still get some nice autumn days.
Cropped, framed, contrast and saturation boosted.

Hi Trudy,
An amazing macro of the first snow fall hitting the grass!
Wonderful lighting and accurate sharpness.
Great details everywhere!
Exposure is just superb!
Very neatly presented and enclosed in an elegant white frame.
Best regards,

Francis Xavier

Oh, Trudie, I sympathise with you!
Snow! In October! Well, I don't miond it near Christmas but not yet! Like you, I would feel deprived since we have had a poor summer.

I think the plant is mimicking your feelings!
Its leaves appear to be calling out for help - "Get me out of here!", with flailing arms!
Very sharply focussed with excellent deatils.
You have controlled the light on the snow very well.

Kind regards,
Bev :-)

Ciao Trudy

Undoubtedly, it will be a beautiful sight!
I think pretty much the snow on the landscape,
the definition of image is fantastic!
Sharpness and clarity are excellent.
Very well done,

Best regards,

Sergio

Hi Trudy:
This early winter image is an excellent composition and good exposures to deal with the whites and show all the details in the snow and also in the plant:)
Cheers!
David

helo Trudy
your subject is very beautiful and the output also, very fine photo!
in Greece the leaves of trees begins to yellow… and we wait for this beauty!

Hello Trudy,I pity you having snow already! It is far too early.
A crystal sharp shot of the snow and the pine needles. The reddy brown and green colours, the textures and the snowy 'lumps' make an interesting picture.
Tfs, regards Jean.

That's a really good sharp shot - almost abstract in it's composition. Good diffused light shows all of the different elements of the scene well..

My parents have just spent 2 weeks in southern Alberta visiting my uncle (30+ years in AB) - it was snowing there too!! No chance of that in this sandpit :-(

Cheers
David

Hi Trudy, well I don't like to see that white stuff this soon, except when it is shown in this manner:)Sharp details, strong composition & very natural capture of the snow's colour.
TFS, I think:)

Hi, Trudy.
I like the snow, because I like skiing (very much)... but I understand that the Canadian winter is not Italian winter.
Great detail and composition.

Disappointing weather, perhaps, but a great photo opportunity. This is crisp, sharp, and has a wonderful sense of dimension and depth.
Nice presentation with the simple, strong frame.

Hello Trudy,
This must be one of the earliest winter photos for the year. And you framed it well using the rule of thirds. So pretty to see the pine needles sticking out of the well metered snow. A fine posting and you just have given me compositional ideas. Many thanks.
Danilo

Hi Trudy,

Brr it looks as if it is a cold one I am sorry that you weather has made a turn for the worst here we get all the seasons but sometimes all in the same day. Good pov nice sharp details and lovely colours tfs.

Jon

Bad weather but a what a great chance for a wonderful photo.
Excellent compo, beautiful white !
We have snow, too. Not here in Bucharest (this morning we had 5 degrees Celsius) but in the western part of Romania.
Hope it will be only for a few days and autumn will come back eventually

thanks,
v

Very nice composition, and the most important in this picture - you were able to retain details of the snow, and the subtle gray tones mixed with the white. A great problem in shooting snow (not that I have a lot of experience with it living in Brazil) is to over-expose the image as the pure white and clarity confuse the sensor of the camera. Images often are "burned" and you can not retrive detail. Excellent.

Hi Trudy

The weather's gone nuts everywhere. Thunder, lightning, & heavy rain in Korea, in what's supposed to be a 'dry' Autumn. And 2 phenomenal duststorms in Australia. Good texture on the snow, with an effective tight frame. The green pine needles add a welcome splash of colour. Tfs!

You 're right Trudy, you can't be too happy about this , i couldn't ! The scene provokes in me an indubitable and sudden awareness of the sad reality of what is going to hit us harder in the face soon , it's a tough one for me to digest , hum let's hope winter will not be too harsh , we deserve that , don't we ?
A picture that tells the story as it is , bang on ! lol! Light is well handled here, right exposure , love that green showing through the white stuff ,simple and effective , yeahhhh ! Nice shot amiga ,
Cheer me up, lol!

hi trudy,

snow is as strange as the bogeyman from where i'm staying. but i love it, can't forget the time when i first felt it brush by my shoulder in salt lake city, but that was very very long ago. excellent details and sharpness.

regards

Brilliant shooting Trudy! So clear and crisp - I'm impressed! Sort of reminds me of sea foam. Can't wait to see some more of your winter shots :).

TFS,
Scott.

Hi Trudy,
What beautiful images with some excellent color and some nice details.
Unfortunately here in Germany has cooled too much time and stay to snow.
Have a beautiful day,
Adrian

we expect snowfalls here in Quetta city in December and January.

a nat-geo photographer was on assignment and found a young male bear bewildering through the drifts in Japan's northernmost major island. the bear seemed confused because the trees and plants had not yet started to bud. brown bears don't normally wake from hibernation until the beginning of April. maybe global warming is affecting their lifestyle... who knows...

your early snow could be a hint/result of global climate change too!

i like the white frame you added :) snow gives me a great mood and a wonderful feeling, especially when it comes to long drives in a nice, warm SUV :)

Hi Trudy
Canadians are used to the unusual especially when it comes to snow. Its early to see the fluffy white stuff envelopping everything. You nailed it right on with the color poking out of the white and everything is perfect.

Oh no Trudy!
This is way too early for the white stuff. I like you composition of white on green. I think the plant is in shock!
