| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
On our last day visiting the beautiful city of Victoria in British Columbia, my wife and I walked along the waterfront in the Fisherman's Wharf area. We saw a small crowd of people standing at the water's edge, and we soon found out why. A seal was enjoying some lunch of fish being offered by some fellow tourists. The seal would leap a good distance out of the water for the treat, and by the looks of its teeth, could do some damage on the girl's small hand, but no harm came to her.
It was difficult timing the shot just right, but switched to multiple frame mode and anticipated when the seal would make its leap. I shot about 20 frames in all, and this was the best one.
Cropped, adjusted levels slightly and sharpened. |

Hi Robert
I bet you had fish and chips at Barbs!! I was there a few weeks ago and saw people feeding probably this same seal. I'm glad to see they are feeding it to much junk food. A lovely well timed capture.
Is that blood or red paint on the seals back?? I hope he's not hurt.
