A couple of days ago, we had Freezing rain. I decided to take a look down a lonely road where the fall colors are spectacular as the trees form a canopy over the road. Not only does the leaves look great, but, when we have a heavy snow fall, the snow one the branches look great.
Though not well seen, the branches are full of ice. The image was converted to B/W using the channel mixer and a gradient in CS2.

What I do like about this image is the view of the canopy over the road. I can't really express, hopefully, someone will have the words.

Thanks for looking

Mike

I creates a lovely sence of mystery, it makes you curious, to go on and on, all the time under this protective embrace of the canopy, great comp, love the tones, thanx, M, (*_*)

It's beautiful Mike, the b&w really works for me.
I love it, thanks for posting.

The point of view is very nice and the weather quite familiar to me as well. It was also a good idea to show this as a B&W as it emphasizes both a certain melancholy and majesty of the trees along the road.

Good take on this classic composition. I think the ice on the trees makes them look less dark, which creates a different impression, one of mystery, or maybe sadness. Very nice image!

Oops, the title is not centered...

hello, Mike
Beautiful photograph ..
thank you for stopped this moment
Viktorija

Beautiful scene Mike, the slight hills in the road and the snow covered branches seem to go on forever, well done.

Hello Mike. Wonderful soulful image and excellent choice of black and white. Two of my favourite stretches of road have canopies such as this, one in south west Western Australia is in a Tuart Forest, the other 2500 miles away is here in Launceston with a combination of willows, poplars and other trees planted by the early settlers. Impressive picture Mike and thanks you.

A mystical trip into the unknown here Mike. I seem to be drawn down the road here wondering what is over the next rise as I hear my feet crunching away on the ice. Nice shot my Yoda friend.

Snow, snow, glorious snow! I love these snow scenes Mike. And your cover of trees gives such an awesome look to this scene. I like seeing how the snow diminishes into the ditance cover of branches. Well composed, it's a good job.

Sorry my bag of goodies is empty

Mike, there was something about the black and white almost sepia look to this that bothered me so I did a workshop. But I am out of them for today so I will come back tomorrow, In the meantime I can only say that it is a graphic shot full of depth and with lots of interest in spite of the symmetry. And that drew me to it immediately.

Hi Mike

I like the undualting terrain & the diminishing linear perspective & vanishing point. Excellent tonal range & sharpness. Well done!

Hi Mike,
Lovely photo. May be I would have increased the contrast a bit more and cropped the top off a bit. But it is very good. You can almost feel the silence.

Perspective is very nice and indeed it has a sad feeling.

Could be used for a Calender Mike , excellent compo here , nice depht created !!

I can stare at this one for a while. It is not the type which one can travel on alone! You have captured it well! The branch details are wonderful!

Hi Mike, I have been spending the last 10 min looking at your portfolio and it is very impressive. Great shot here; great compo, great B&W and great POV.

TFS, Marie-José

Beautiful winter scene. It seems like the branches are calling or pulling you down their road.

beautiful image. for my eye, the point where the road meets the horizon could have been a touch lower and the whites a bit more white, but the mood this creates is really wonderful.

Mike,
This picture has the WOW factor.
I like the hills, snow and the texture of the tree branches. Well done,
Scott

Although I can't bear to think that this coming back soon, It's a lovely take!
