“Doing time” is the name of this photograph. This photograph was taken in Ferryland at the old jail house and when you do crime you do the time!
This is a photograph of Ma Costello, a notorious outlaw pirate who frequented Ferryland and the southern shore of Newfoundland. This blue eyed female buccaneer, the only one in our history, was brutal when it came to prisoners. The few who were fortunate to escape took the results of the vicious beating to their graves.
She was following captured by the British Navy when her vessel hit a submerged and sank. You can see the rebelliousness in her eyes.
