Maybe I'd crop a bit tighter but that is a matter of taste...

Great effect on this one, I really think the selective colour works well for the attention grabbing. I like the way you have managed to get it all so much in focus too, well done.

Nicely done, Niek. The colors works really well here, and complements the composition to isolate the waterfall and people. Did you have the desaturation idea in mind when you shot this, or did it come later? I would have suggested a shallower DoF to enhance this even more, but I noticed you already shot at f5.6, and you can't get much less than f5.6; but maybe a little blur to the edges would isolate them even more (I would try it before I suggest it, but I don't have that capability because I'm at work now).

You are just too clever, Niek. Might have been interesting to try it the other way around. Looking back in the mirror as B & W and all the rest looking forward in color???? Perhaps the mirror takes up too much of the frame to do that effectively. You sure had a nice clean mirror! Nice work.

Hoi Niek,

Wat een goed en creatief idee!
De kleuren van de reflectie in je spiegel zijn erg goed en scherp. En de waterval zelf heeft ook een mooie vorm.
Heel mooi gedaan ook om de omgeving zwart/wit te maken.
Ik vind het heel orgineel en schitterend gedaan met een passende en titel.

Very nice picture. The B&W idea is good, although you write that your past (=the mirror) is B&W? Just wondering ;)
The thing your driving instructor brainwashed you with: he did it to me too! Haha.

About the picture: Very inventive. Good idea, maybe you could have blurred the B&W background a bit. But anyhow: TFS!

Nice idea you've had with this photo within photo. I like mirror area composition as well as it's placement within main frame. Distinguishing present and past with colours / b&w I found very attractive. I am very surprised of sharpness across the photo - close flowers in the grass are as sharp as distant persons in the mirror. Could it nbe thanks to f/5.6 and quite short focal length? Or you selectively sharpened b&w part of the photo? Anyways I like this photo with it's idea. tfs
