Abstract Birch 1
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
This is an experimental photo. I found a stand of birch trees in Guelph University's Arboretum. I sought to simplify this forest scene by abstracting it. I rocked the camera vertically slightly during a long exposure. In this way I hoped to maintain the shape of the stand of birch trees while blurring out the grasses and background branches which were very busy.
In post-production I had to do very little. I darkened with levels and then added a bit more magenta to some areas to help add some colour depth.
This is the first photo of this sort that I have taken. I was inspired by a photo I saw on Radiant Vista and wanted to give it a try. Mine doesn't attain the same level of abstraction though. I want to improve myself and would LOVE constructive criticism.

Hello, Josh!
Well-Your experiment was very well done!
I'm personaly more of a detailed photographer, but the way you captured this photo changed my sight on things a bit!
Best regards, and TFS!
