I went fishing last weekend.

The tommy cod (called 'poulamon' -pronounced 'poolamon'- here) lives from 3 to 8 years, produces approximately 8600 eggs per lay, and weighs 45 gr in average; the male's lenght is in average 150 mm, the female 180. It roams the west coast of the Atlantic, from Labrador to Virginia, and takes to many rivers to lay eggs.

Even FISHING is a sport, (not to me) I preffer 10thousand times to see fishes swimin, and not hooked by a piece of metal trough it`s mouth.
A place like these, TREKLENS, was made to show many things.,,.good and sad sometimes, as the reality of our world. but in this case, when hurting animals could be avoided....I dunno what to think. LEAVE ANIMALS ALONE! even if you put it back again on the water...it is not a reason to took photos to be proud of.

I AGREE in every single word of Omar.
we know that tuna and many other species of the sea are eaten every day. But, theres one reason to survival, and other, like fishing to pleasure. Adding a photo of this animal OUT OF IT`S ENVIROMENT, choking, suffering dammage on it`s skin, and most of all a hole in it`s mouth......
that`s completely out of the question.
If I wanted to see dying fishes, I would buy a fishing magazine.

Hi Stephane,

I really agree with omar and fertobar in relation to fishing, especially in this case it looks like the fish has swallowed the hook entirely.

On a purely tecnical level I think you got good depth of field and sharpness in this shot, also its not badly framed.

I would liked to have seen this photograph has been posted more as an advert against senseless fishing and or hurting animals without need.

In fact, given there is another hook in view in the background, it would go quite well with a dutch series of adverts who's slogan is 'protect the creatures, from the animals'.

My critique is a personal view, so in view of Pierre's comments, please don't consider this as a personal attack on you, just my personal view :)

Kind regards

Colin

Très belle photo Stéphane !
Et puis merde pour les ti-coeurs sensibles...

Some people have never had the pleasure of sitting with a dad or grandpa and fishing. It is a way of life for many, it is a way for family to bond for yet others. For some it is just good eating.
I guess I am different in that I am not apposed to fishing. I don't like any kind of killing just for the kill but if you are going to eat it... fish away. This one does look a little small to eat but I know nothing about tommy cod...
Interesting POV and good DOF, the lighting almost shows through the fish. Good clarity and detail.

Bonjour Stephane,

Pierre

Stephane, good PJ shot. It's telling a story - a story some of us (sometimes called animal activists) don't want to hear or see as it reminds us that the meat, fish, poultry or vegatables we eat, are all living creatures. It also reminds us that someone has to kill it for us to be eaten. And some people don't want to be reminded about that. Let us not pretend these things are not happening and try to intimidate fellow TL's to not post these pics here. Good shot.
