A path we all must walk. But what is around the corner?
This photo was taken in a Guelph graveyard along Woodlawn. We had just had a lot of snow and many of the graves were slick with ice.
PP: This was shot in colour, and transformed to greyscale via the chanel mixer at Red+170, Green 0 and Blue-65. I have applied a local contrast/clarify style USM to the entire photo and again to the path. Some high contrast rocks int he snow have been cloned out and I have done minor restoration to the stone. I have also cloned out a bit of sky in the top corner. All branched areas have been burnt to remove high contrast bits of snow and sky from distracting and lastly, the photo was sharpened slightly with smart sharpen. |

Hi Josh
Very spectacular photo here..I noticed it right when I was on the first page of the galleries. I really like the colors and how you used your surroundings to create a story with just a click of your camera. Thanks for sharing. Leanne
Hi Josh - I think this image all works very well - nively composed with the cross balanced nicely by the track and the trees - good image, well taken.
Maybe I'd have liked a little more space around the cross, but a minor point. Nice job.

I have passed that graveyard, Josh, without having had the time to visit (you'll see some shots of Guelph in my gallery). This is fabulously well-composed and a good choice of B&W for the finished product.
Great lines and textures

Hi Josh,
I think this is a perfect photo for B&W and, good work on the conversion. Composed well, good POV, detail and exposure. Seems high in contrast and I like that. A powerful image and one that makes me stop and wonder...how long before I cross this path...hopefully a long time yet.
Nice shot Josh.
