2nd in a series of ducks.

Once again, this was taken in some seriously cold weather. There are certain advantages to the cold weather. First, if there is ice or snow, it acts as a giant reflector and results in more ambient and even lighting. Also, it allows for faster shutter speeds that are required for a shot like this. Also, I think the winter light is a bit clearer than summer...maybe less hazy so you have a chance for clearer, crisper images.

Thanks to Scott for an idea for a title

Aweseome wildlife action capture. You caught the duck in flight beautiful shot.

Well framed and good exposure; much appreciated you took it in flight; the colors are superb but a bit noisy…

Joe,
Perhaps "Flapped" for a title, surely it's better than the present "can't think of a title". :)
He has his flaps down preparing to land.
I like this shot because you left him room to fly into and the shallow DOF isolates him so well. You also know that the catch-light is important in the eys and have caught it well. I particularly like the curling of the tail!!
Again, well done Joe,
Scott

Hi Joe,
This is an extremely beautiful duck, the colours are so great and bright, speccialy the green and the blue. The blur background is very good and I like also the movement of the wings. The details are great.
Regards,
Aida

Another awesome shot Joe. Good OOF bg making the duck stand out beautifully. Perfect focus on the key body parts with some wing motion blur...gotta love it.

Certainly a nice mallard there. Wonderful colors. Good focus along with detail. Stands out very nicely from the background. Great job, thanks.

Hi Joe
'Mallard in flight'. WOW ! A very good action shot. Good detail and movement in the wings. Even a catch light in his eye. It is a male mallard duck. Well done.

Who needs a title? Fantasic shot of a beautiful duck. The action of flight is wonderfully captured. The detail of the duck's body is great, and the movement in the wings is also well shown. Nice use of frame as well. I also like the flashes of colour (orange, blue, green and yellow) on what is a plain background.

Hi Joe, incredible photo, the colours are beautiful and the duck.....excelent model. TFS

What can I say, it's wonderful

Hi Joem

I looked at all your 'duck' images and I think this one is best... the dof is great, and so is the composition... the space to the right lets the duck fly off. Amazing focus, and just his/her body looks great in this position; feet back, head forward and wings spread out for flight... I really like this, and I'm not much of a fan for animal images. The thin black frame is quite effective too.

Lovely model. :)

Biance.

Hi Joe.

:) Exceptionally anticipated, very vibrant colors. The lights and compo was perfectly in placed. Cheers always.

Thanks/Salamat,
Jeff
