[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
For the past days we had stormy weather in Quebec. The wind howled outside and blew the snow in all directions.
Not small was my surprise when I woke up yesterday morning and saw the heap of snow in front of my window, but then... I saw the ice crystals!

While the left side of the window contained "normal" crystals (like I had seen before), the right side was covered by a strange "tapestry" of ice crystals in a great variety of shapes and patterns, that I hadn't seen before.

I'm still amazed by the complexity of the whole design and I'd really like to share it with you.
Unfortunately, all my attempts to "condensate" a bigger part into the dimensions allowed for posting were unsuccessful, due to the loss of sharpness and detail. So, I cut off just a (very) small piece, adjusted the contrast, sharpened and posted it as a panorama (in order to make details more visible).

This fragment looks to me like a symbolic representation of the ice storm that roamed around our neighborhood these days.

Hello Toni,
What delicate beauty you have seen emerge from something as powerful as the recent ice storm. I love the different patterns all caught on the same glass.
Very nice work,
Karen

Wonderful. A perfect example of what I always think. Simple and natural things can be a masterpiece of beauty.***

Wow Toni,

This is amazing - it really does look like a tapestry, a very delicate one. Great framing and composition. The trees just visible in the background are nice and unobtrusive and keep the focus on the ice crystals. Beautiful find. Yea Canon S3 IS!!

So beautiful! I love the strip of glass that's not covered and allows one to see the out-of-focus background scenery beyond. Excellent composition and horizontal cropping that draws the viewer's eye all around to catch all that detail. Very crisp, excellent detail, the exposure and contrasts are perfect. I am glad you caught this, good use of time in such nasty weather. So whimsical. TFS!

Hey Toni,
this is fantastic "fairy tale" picture. Great macro and wonderful view with the inviting potential - the blured outside - to go explore what is going on outside.
Thanks for your "cotton-field" Workshop Make Up.
