After my last posts, we continue chronologically . The icebreaker Pierre Radisson did his round up in the harbour basin to loosen the ice pack. The tugs did pass closer to the ship and also worked at the bow and stern. Now it is time fot the tugs to get the tow lines from the ship.

One more thing . My last shots were taken from the bridge deck up above on the starboard side, next to the wheelhouse. As you appreciated, the view is excellent from up there.

Vessel is on long Time Charter by Fednav International . The Daviken was built in Croatia, back in 1987 as the Ship's particulars are indicating.

I know very well this ship, since I started to board her the year she was built. They were three sister ships, operated by Jugolinija of Rijeka. Good old days and souvenirs to me with the Croatian crews (^_^ ).

Jugolinjia was established in 1947, with 18 ships, reaching size of 57 ships and over 3000 employees in 1986.

Despite the ships were sold a few years ago, they remained chartered by Fednav. Those vessels were built to the Saint-Lawrence Seaway specifications, and are still a great asset to their fleet for even after twenty years.

Technically. Image uncropped. Very minor level adjustments, resized and frame.

I will be in Montreal tomorrow, and boarding another ship tomorrow night. So I will reply to critiques and comments in a couple of days.

Thanks a lot in the meantime for your visit and kind critiques received on this serie.

Cheers!
Robert

These are top quality shots, Robert - how do you get them? Sorry, I'm not sure of your job...

This is just fascinating for me - I currently live on the equator after over four years in the desert of the UAE, so to see scenes like this is just wonderful.

Great detail here, a decisive moment i'd guess - and that ice is just fantastic. The size of the wee man in red gives us an idea of overall scale.

Super shot, super series - very well done and thanks indeed for posting these images!

Very well composed, great POV and depth, well captured contrast betweeen the huge tanker ship and the tow boats in this sea of ice.

rgds,
Cristian

That seems like a lot of action and hard work, the sizes of the boats are so contrasting while those crushed chunks of ice look so chilly, chilling and massive. A great capture indeed, a rather unuusal one with a great view position and perspective. Good lights and composition

Bonjour Robert,
On imagine à peine qu'un brise-glace soit si petit en comparaison des autres navires... Merci de nous le montrer si vaillant à la manoeuvre sur cette surprenante mer de glace.
Mary

Hi Robert,
that's so interesting and wonderful to see for me. I don't have the chance to see such szenes often, the next sea, the Adria is about 600km, the Northsee about 1000 km far away. I love the mighty ship, soooo big, and also all the ice around, that's spectacular for me, thanks and greetings

Bonjour Robert,
Bravo! Annie

Wow, very colorful, sharp images and great pov! thanks for sharing,
Fran

Outstanding colours and details and perfect composition on this capture. Amazing how so small a boat can help with so big a ship!
