Out at the beach one day we came accross this piece of drift wood. It seemed to be almost lit up by the sun, and I was intrigued by the shape of it.

Was this how you found this piece? I like the POV you took it from and the B&W I think add texture to the shot.
I did find the item in the foreground on the left a bit distracting, but I don't think trying to clone it out would do this justice.
