I wanted to post the date that this photo was taken, but TL dates stop at 1960. I had to choose that date to be able to post the photo but it was taken in the Spring 1950

This tree was approximatly 800 meters (1/2 mile) in the field in the back of the boarding school I was attending. Being a member of the Naturalist Club quite often we were having a walk in the back field to look at the wild life. I always have admired this tree that, despite being partially split in two with the years fighting the winds, the snow, was still surviving. I was back in the area yesterday and The Old Fighter was gone, houses have been built there. This is the first photo of the nature that I took, before that, there were always people in. The camera was an inexpensive Kodak.

PP: I scan the B&W photo and save in jpeg. Then with PS Element 2, I adjusted the brightness, frame it with Framer, back in PS to resize for TL.

It a shame the old fighter is gone, but you have capture the memory of it very well, this does look like a very old photo, great job of preserving it. Thanks for sharing,
Fran

Thank you for sharing this historic image with us! Funny to think how many changes there have been since then. I was born at about the time you took this shot (April 18, 1950)

Many thanks for your comment on ‘Underwater Patterns IV’

Never looked at dates - wow, makes me feel old! I have pics from that time, and even earlier! Can't believe photography was invented then, but I do remember a box brownie.....
Cheers

Pierre .. although in B/W and not 100% sharp I say I like it. Sometimes a photo carries such a strong message that other things seem less inportant. Welldone. Smiles from your Dutch friends

Salout pierre,
I like this one, the framing makes it work. Looke like an old slide that has been around for a while.
Great old vintage feeling you created with this framing.
