Day 5: 13:10 hrs

The first thing , we did when we arrived in Percé…… We stopped to visit Marie-Josée Tommi ceramist Workshop. If you look at the image posted yesterday , it is the house with the green roof, on the left, as you enter the village from Highway 132 from the Pic de l’Aurore. While Martine was choosing her items (^_^), I escaped through the front door to go back uphill to take a few shots ( included the same posted yesterday LOL ! )

When I came back I took a few inside the Workshop. These gannets were on a table . Shelves and various items such as paintings, ceramics, dishware, were on display as well.

Gannets are members of the Sulidae family. Of the eleven species in this family, ours is the northernmost species an dis migratory. Three of the world`s twenty-odd immense colonies are located in Quebec. Some 35,000 couples arrive at Bonaventure Island in April to reproduce. They mate for life, each year returning to the same nest. For 15 days, both parents take turns brooding their single egg. The pair greet each other ceremoniously whenever one of the mates returns from sea. In October, the gannets depart for the Gulf of Mexico where they lead a pelagic life, sleeping on the water itself. Note, the word ‘’gannet’’ is derived from a German word for ‘’goose’’.

These magnificent seabirds symbolise lifelong faithfullness. Their aerodynamic model served as a source of inspiration for the the designers of the Concord aircraft. That is a tip for my fellow friend Hans ( Greenbaron )

Technicallly : I blurred the surroundings and applied radial to get the focus on our subjects only. Added frame and title. As they were taken in her workshop. I humbly give her a little tribute by adding her name on her works. Yes we do have a couple at home now (^_^).

I took a few shots, but I prefer this POV as all the subjects are looking at me ( and you !!! ) from this angle .(*_^)

Have a great Day !
Robert

Robert... shouldnt you have said.. while Martine was chosing her items... I sneaked out the back door.. so I didnt have to pay!! or didnt want to know how much she was spending.. ha ha..

Excellent capture of the ceramic birds.. they look so life like..I like the one on the top right, with its head in the air.

Very well done.. and yes this would be an excellent photograph for advertising purposes.. maybe you could send them a copy (in small size).

Thanks for sharing.
Cheers
Dawn.

Rebonjour Robert, superbe image!

Alain
