Grey Wolf Hunting

This wolf is tracking something in the snow.Today is my 1st anniversary of posting to TrekLens.I have learned and evolved so much as a result of being a member of the Trek sites.I remember my first posts and how the critiques opened my eyes to the common mistakes I was making in my photography.I immersed myself by reading the critiques of the photos in the gallery, noting what worked and what did not.I looked at the workshops and began finding the programs that I needed to do successful post processing.(When I started I did not even know how to reduce a photo size).I realized that like anything in life , you get out of this what you put into it.My advice to newcomers...don't post your work for ego gratification...post because you want to learn ,go out and critique the shots you like ,or the ones you see need improving. If you don't feel comfortable being negative ,critique the positive.I learned a lot having photographers I respect telling me what works. You learn quickly enough what works what does not. When I was a newcomer I felt ,"How can I critique ,when I am here to learn",well learning how to critique by reading others will teach you just as much as having your own photos critiqued. So newcomers do not be afraid to critique others. It builds friendships and creates a better bond to the site. But most of all do not be offended by a negative critique, take it as a learning experience, and if you do not agree, then well agree to disagree. So here it is one year posting ,and I feel I have learned ,but also I feel I have so much still to learn.I thank all TL'ers for their wonderful posts and encouragement. Thanks all for stopping by .

Hi Rob, very nice photo and composition! Well done!
Regards,Chris!

Hi Rob,
Congratulations on both a great picture and 12 months here on Treklens, I agree with what you have said in your text especially the end about having learned so much with so much to learn.
To the picture well as usual nice and sharp with good colour and no over exposure on the snow, I really like the expression on his/her face.
Well done
Tfs Andy

Good evening Rob

Congratulations on your first year and on another first class capture. If I can post anything half way this good after a year I will be well happy. Fantastic clarity and looks so good against the white snow,

TFS regards Helen

A great wildlife shot - lovely colours and great details. Strong composition, offsetting the wolf to one side, and all in all a well crafted picture of a beautiful animal.
Thanks for sharing
Mark

Hi Rob, great action shot. The wolf is certainly attentative to something. Glad you were the one holding the camera and not me. Good image and detail of the wolf. Nice lighting. I like how the snow darkens the further back. It provides some nice depth and contrast. Good composition. Congrats on the 1 year anniversary.

Congrats on the anniversary Rob! and a wonderful photo to celebrate it with! I have and will always admire your wildlife shots Rob. Your ability to get so close amazes me (and others) and the detail you capture is always stunning. This shot is no different! Beautiful light, perfect exposure, good compo and pose captured of the wolf. Thanks for sharing this and all your wildlife photography!

Hello Rob !

Cool shot . Absolutely superb moment captured. The sharpeness and light are just perfect !

10/10 to me for this 1st Anniversary !
Bravo!
Robert

I wish you many more years of great photography (^_^)

Huntimng for mice, I guess!
Great work, Rob! Nice and clear, and I can't get over it how close you get to these wily creatures! I have a pretty good lens on my camera, but rarely get anything like that! A shame really, since in my neck of the woods, particularly in winter, opportunities are abundant! But never get close enough for the camera to get a good shot!
Cheers
Otto
