My Aunt Barb's Prized Plant: The Hoya Bella
A tricky plant to grow!

From Wikipedia:

Hoya is a genus of 200-230 species of tropical climbing plants in the family Apocynaceae, native to southern Asia (India east to southern China and southward), Australia, and Polynesia. Common names for this genus are waxplant, waxvine, waxflower or simply hoya.
They have simple opposite leaves 5-30 cm long that are typically succulent, and in many species are flecked with irregular small silvery spots.
The flowers appear in axillary umbellate clusters at the apex of 2-3 cm peduncles, with repeated clusters of flowers developing sequentially on each peduncle. The flowering peduncles get 2-3 mm longer with each flowering, and can eventually reach 7 cm or more long.

I like it very much. Nice natural colours and well framing.
Fine work.

Hi Ursula,
Your subject is beautiful and the luminosity is well used. The narrow deep of field fit well your photo. The flowers are a little bit out of focus IMO. And this is a perfect subject for precise details. I tried a WS just for the fun of it. Your framing is great, well done and efficient. TFS !

Hi Ursula,
Nice shown this very oryginal flower. Great details and frame.
My hoya is also just blooming, she has 15 of such groups of flowers, which unfortunately, don't smell most nicely...
greetings
Zosia

Great macro, I love this flower I have seen it personally also, the flowers look like plastic, tiny and beautiful.

My ex got my hoya by default -- last time I saw it, it was about 8 feet long and still blooming like crazy -- pretty flowers, but MAN! what a smell!
Great capture, lovely composition, pretty colours

Beautiful colors and nice crop once again, Ursula. This plant looks artificial and seems to be made of plastic, it's strange. I think the light was too much on the right.
You haven't got a lot of pictures on Treklens, however you got a lot of point. So my question is : What's the secret to get such a huge fan club ? :)

Beautifully presented Ursula. Very well done. The flowers are so pretty.

I have had a HOYA for 30 years. It's been moved many times. I've had to keep pruning it back otherwise it would have covered whole walls. Now, it's cut back to only a few stems, but it's beginning to take off again.

Hi Ursula,
Very good close-up on this hoya. Your image renders the softness of its skin and, in the same time, the acuity on its heart.
Beautiful light background. Excellent note too, but, not forget the strong parfume that this flower releases in wet weather.
Very beautifully done! Annie

Hello Ursula,

You are right, Hoya's are tricky to grow. My father had the knack for hoya's and african violets.
Wondeful macro-you can see the waxy surface which stands out so well against the BG.
Very effective. TFS, Joni
