Ghost Leaves

| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Taken at Goldstream Park near Victoria BC. Looking straight up in the sky when I was taking a drink of water, I saw this. I liked how the shadow of the leaves above cast down on the lower leaves. It adds an interesting contrast and neat patterns.
Slight crop.
Thanks,

Hi Ryan, really beautiful shot, I love it when leaves are backlit like this too. The shadows created by overlapping leaves make wonderful contrasts and give alternating silhouettes and outlines of the leaves scattered throughout the shot. Great exposure and good colors, and the tones are great too. Excellent point of view looking straight up so that the leaves are all at the same distance, are continuous, and fill up the frame, which allows us to focus on the shadows of the leaves behind. Really wonderful shapes brought out and very good balance and composition with the thin branches crossing the frame at a deep angle, and nothing directly in the center of the shot. I do sense that there is a certain lack of focus on the leaves, did you use autofocus? Really nice shot though, thanks for sharing!
