Ominous Reflection
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
This was part of a storm system that produced deadly tornadoes in Manitoba over the weekend.
Here, a massive cell grows quickly and approaches from the distance, appearing ominous and sinister. As it grew darker, the continuous lightning was still too far away to be heard, but it still lit the landscape around us with each tremendous flash as it slowly grew closer.
Later on, the noise was too great to permit me to sleep, and the small cabin I was calling home for the week began shaking as if it had no foundation at all. Fortunately, there was little damage here, but to the west, a few people were killed in a community near Winnipeg.
For this photo, the Earth was still calm and quiet, and the sky reflected on the water as if it were a mirror.
The things our atmosphere is capable of producing is a source of never-ending wonder to me. |

Nice capture. It is good to see someone with a good note. :)
Great details, nice mood, and nice lighting.
TFS!

This is a really good composition.
I like this because you can split this into thirds. Blue sky, then cloud and then blue sky again relfected on the water.
It works very well :) You were in the right place at teh right time.

hello Brian,
good shot and a good note..
Hi Brian, yes, definitely ominous and the storms can be quite deadly for those not prepared or just simply unfortunate. I like your compo here and interesting pov with the 'bad' right up the center. TFS.
Hi Brian,
Interesting sky here and you've captured it well. Nice reflections and detail in the horizon. Well seen!
