[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is a frozen leaf of a gingko tree encased in ice. They were draining a fountain for the winter in front of the Toronto City Hall. It was late November afternoon (almost sunset hour), so the colours were just perfect - blue ice and golden leaves. The bubbles were naturally frozen inside the ice layer. I was kneeling down on the ice to be able to get as close as possible to the surface.

Equipment:
Olympus C-4000Z 4MP digital camera set to 2" super macro mode. No tripod - handheld. SM card.

Postprocessing in PS 7:
- cropped and resized
- cloned out minor dirt in ice
- bosted colour and saturation
- sharpened
- added thin border

Hi Nella,

Superb image! Your composition and exposure is excellent. The contrast of the orange and blue color is very good. The bubbles frozen in the water add a wonderful texture. The radiating lines on the leaf really add a lot of movement. The contrast is textures is also very wonderful. The simple black border you added is tasteful and really adds to the final image. Very good work. Welcome to TL!

This is an artistic nature-shot with beautiful drops, nice textures, a cold and (n)ice shot, well done !

I like the color and reflections in this shot. the bubbles add a nice texture.

Graphical rather than photograph :-) Very nice work, I like especially two colors that and shapes playing together.
