Dusk Over PEI
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
This picture was taken from the McKenzie Brook viewpoint in the Prince Edward Island National Park near the famous town of Cavendish. You can see on the cliffs the red colored rock that we find here on this island.
I took this picture about 10 minutes after sunset. There's still plenty of light left for fine pictures. On a tripod, I decided to use my Cokin mauve filter at an angle to balance the sky and accentuate the purple hues of the dusk light. The 10 seconds exposure worked well and also created a soft fell to the rolling waves of the ocean on the rocky beach.
PP (ACDSee Pro):
- Adjusted levels
- Shadow and highlight
- Removed some noise
- Sharpen 20%
- Converted to JPEG
- Removed dust spots
- Resized for posting
PC :)
Note: I usually don't do this but I decided to also post this picture here on TL since it's more suited to this site. On TN, Niek suggested that this picture as lost it's connection to nature because of the use of the mauve grad and I think that he is right. |

Hi, Patrick,
Excellent after sundown shot.
I love it.
Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the information of how you accomplished this. The effect on the water is great. It almost looks like fog. What was it Sandburg said about fog coming in on little cat feet?
Well done.

Patrick, I like the composition and the scenery, but I think that coloration is just way too strong and doesn't do anything to add to the picture. If anything it detracts from it.
