Sparkling Personality

| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
This is another of my experiments with long time exposures. I got the idea from a photography magazine where I saw some tricks with sparkles.
Setup:
My son stood as a model and my husband hidden behind him would light a sparkle and trace my son with it while my camera shutter was open for 15 seconds. The room had no other lighting than the faint light from the sparkle. The photo is not the sharpest due to the fact that it is extremely hard for a person to stand in that position for 15 seconds without minute movements of his body...
Equipment:
Olympus C-4000Z 4MP digital camera. Manual mode with 15 second exposure. Velbon tripod. SM card.
Postprocessing in PS 7:
- cropped & resized
- adjusted levels & contrast
- darkened parts of the background to black
- brightened the sparkled outline tiny bit
- sharpened
- added thin border

nella, i like how this almost made a silhouette of your son - it makes the sparkles appear more as if they are coming from him instead of around him.
Great experiment with good results. This would be a great Hapy New Year card.
That is awesome! What a great idea! It looks great too. Very creative and original. Excellent job. JP
