Fall starts here!

Growing up in California I always thought it was strange that fall started on September 22 or 23. Oh, I understood about the autumn equinox, but it realy didn't feel that fall started until October (when I lived in central California, around the 38th parallel) or November (when I lived in southern California around the 33rd parallel). In Hawaii (at the 20th parallel), we never got any fall at all. But then in Colorado (40th parallel), fall seemed to start around October 1. Now here at the 50th parallel, fall starts to kick in on August 31. Here's the evidence...
PP: A contrast adjustment, a bit of sensor dust cloned out, a resize, frame, and very slight USM. |

Hi Mike, living in Singapore I don't really get seasons so I love images like this that remind me of home, Scotland. This is a simple shot but I think it works well, the autumnal colours are very pleasant and I like the dark green leaves framing the tree in front. I also like the small strip of rabbit-path obn the right - perhaps that could have been made more of a feature?
Beautiful detail, lovely colours and a singleminded focus on that tree. Maybe the polariser has almost worked too well, the sky is almost oppressively dark blue overhead. One other little niggle, the dark object at the bottom right edge of the photo?
Great work though, I love this one.
