Midnight Rainbow
It was April... soggy and very cold. The untimely winter had started to release its hold although there was still snow on the ground and in the rapids. Lovers were walking by the rainbow-lit falls thinking 'twas already spring. I was alone, but the absence of conversation was filled in by the deafening roar of mighty Niagara. Standing behind the guardrail that protected me from the abyss, the misty air fogs my vision and my camera.

Forget this mumbo-jumbo drama, I just made a pp-work so I could post another pic in Canada from a poor composed shot (in a 99% humidity level environment).
I saw this image has potential. See the unedited pic in the WS :)

Composition:
Model: Canon PowerShot A640
Software: Adobe Photoshop CS3
Exposure Time: 1/8
F-Stop: f/2.8
Focal Length: 7300/1000 mm
Metering Mode: Pattern

Pp work:
1. highlight the lit parts of the image
2. add new layer in Color mode (so the layer behind is not obscured of its minute details and colors when adding 100% opacity of pixels to the new layer)
3. paint w/ different colors using the brush tool to mimic the light in Niagara
4. sharpen to create some texture on the water and blur to remove condensation on the lens
5. create a shadowed border
6. resize

Quote of the Day:
"The best part of us is not what we see, it's what we feel. We are what we feel. We are not what we look at . . .. We're not our eyeballs, we're our mind. People believe their eyeballs and they're totally wrong . . .. That's why I consider most photographs extremely boring--just like Muzak, inoffensive, charming, another waterfall, another sunset. This time, colors have been added to protect the innocent. It's just boring. But that whole arena of one's experience--grief, loneliness--how do you photograph lust? I mean, how do you deal with these things? This is what you are, not what you see. It's all sitting up here. I could do all my work sitting in my room. I don't have to go anywhere." -Duane Michals

Wonderful shot Freddie.
Forget the noise, deafening though it is ;)
The image works very well PP'd or not.
I like it.
Cheers,
Steve

a touch grainy man, but very cool.

how're things? it's been awhile!

hmm its a little noisy but its wonderful and abstract

Hey Freddie
Great moment you shot there. Amazing colors. Must be difficult to have a good result for this.
Well done
David

Une image qui frôle l»'abstrait , pas facile avec si peu de lumière , mais je vois bien ton message de l'image. la lune donne tout le sens et l'angle de la chute d'eau est visible . Le reste c'est facile à comprendre.. réal.

Well done Freddie, it's not an easy shot to do and you did it good. Thanks,

Mario

Hi Fred,

Quite a good snapshot using a compact flash digicam. Good color compo after PP. Quite sharp too with clear shot of the moon.

TFS,
Hong

This is an interesting shot which you got just right. I always have difficulty with this kind of pictures but you did a very good job here. Congratulations!

You made me laugh to see this listed as being in Toronto, for it is really an hour and a half from Toronto: in Niagara Falls :D
Great moment with the moonlight creating a very different mood than one usually sees in pictures of the falls.
