[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is one of the photo that I took of the anti-George Bush protestors in Ottawa. A bunch of people from Toronto (500 km away) had gathered around the bonfire on the parliament hill, Ottawa; for some singing, dancing and weed after the protests were over; this is where I took this photo.

BACKGROUND: George Bush was visiting Canada and many people in Canada gave him a pretty cold welcome with lots of protests. The biggest protests were in Ottawa since it is the capital, and people from as far as the Maritimes, Montreal and Toronto had come down to Ottawa for the protests. The riot police had to be used which is kind of rare for generally very cool and polite Canadians.

This girl was'nt moving much so I took her portrait ... he he .. I hope she won't get mad at me if she sees this photo on TL sometimes (the chances are kind of slim though)

Cheers and thanks for reading through all the story.

Hi Sarju !
The shot and the note work together and the fire illustrates very well the strength of the message of protest which is expressed.

It is a lovely shot of fire, and she also has that look people often have when they sit around a fire. I think you did well in a difficult situation. And good of you and all the rest to go to the demonstration.

This is a great shot Sarju!! The way you captured the fire is fantastic and the warm glow that speads everywhere in the photo is simply beautiful.
Very well done Sarju!! Thanks for posting this one here. I love it.

Sarju - yes I agree - your story has added a lot to the picture - given it context making it far more meaningful. Par janaab - aapney itni badhiya framing ki hai aur yeh ladki ka jo expression hai... asal mazaa to usi kaa hai. Very warm and endearing picture

It is a cool effect.. it almost looks like the photograph itself is burning...not a bonfire but the picture. She looks as if she is hopeless.. and in fact one feels like that when dealing with governments..no? Great fire sparks too. Thanks my friend.

Hi Sarju,
great shot that represents very well the related note. I like the fire in an angle and how the face of the woman is iluminated.. also her expression and pose are very meaningul.
Well done!
Marisa

The bonfire, which resembles an array of fireworks with the sparks, makes this composition. Your note helped to bring it all together and understand. It is interesting that the fire cast a glow of warmth and peace and at the same time suggest anger and coldness. Perhaps a symbol of the frustrated feelings we have all to often.....:O)
