Montreal Graffiti 01
 |

| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Like any big city, Montreal has a graffiti problem. Some of it can be quite beautiful (or interesting, at the least), especially when taken out of context.
I was walking back to my hotel last week after seeing a presentation at the AERA (American Educational Research Association) Annual Meeting, when I ran across this graffitied wall in the Latin Quarter. It was in an alleyway, just off Rue Jeanne-Mance, I think between Boulevard René-Levesque and Boulevard de Maisonneuve.
Whoever did this has a good artistic eye. It's a shame that so much of this covers our cities, but it's interesting to look at anyway.
I did very little post-processing. I selected an area about fifty pixels inside the outer edge of the image, used Photoshop's Vignette action to fade the edges, adjusted the levels to deepen the colors a little, then sharpened the image, resized it, saved and uploaded it. |

Hi Michael,
This is a good image, I like specially the contrast between the image's colour and what surrounds her

Michael I agree with you they should not be on the walls of the city, but like you I love to stop & study them.
