Hi,
Again in the mountains, this time is not a lake but an almost birds-view from the Icefields Parkway, in Jasper National Park.
This is one of the most beautiful, highest and spectacular points along that highway.
This time the post-processing took longer because I did not know in the beginning what I was heading to.
I decided in the end to leave the retouched photo a bit closer to the so-called "natural looking". How close,it is up to you to decide, as I will upload again the raw photo and the corrected version, for comparison.
The frame belongs to me,and I don`t know if it is suitable or not for the photo but I think is cool.
In the last period of time I play a lot with gradients and gradient-maps, on different layer blending styles and sometimes the results are quite remarkable.
Lets see if I remember something about what I did:
1.I simply corrected the black, white and gray points but it wasn`t really much to correct about this because I took care about that in the raw converter.
Intentionally I set the black point too high (around 45) because I knew I was about to use some overlay and (or) soft light blending.
2.I played my "magic" action to recover the dark areas and the highlights, which, because it is using Gaussian Blur, has the "secondary effect" to sharpen the image.

3.After I finished retouching the photo (which took a lot less time than it took me now to write about it) I know that I applied a warmth filter, I selectively boosted the greens,I applied a color range contrast for the forest and spent most of my time playing with the frame.
Again, absolutely no sharpening was done because the action played at step two.
I`m getting older, so please don`t ask too much from me, to remember everything:)...
I hope I haven`t confused you with this explanation:)
Thank you,
Nelu

nice PP
I don't realy think the frame suits a simpler one would be preferable

Nicely composed picture, good contrast, well taken!

Since your images are so well done and thought out..I was surprised to hear that you didn't like digital...but so many of my old time photojournalists where liek you...so its ok...I jumped in early on..I was tired of chemicals on my hands..A very nice picture with some usual mises and blends, as all of yours. I really like it..Nice and unique!

Hi Nelu, first rate PP work, what a transition from the original to final,I still have no clue how you did this even with your explanation:)you certainly breathed life into this scene, great colours & vibrant composition.I'm not keen on frames when posting,I think the image should stand on its own, which this one definately can, just my quirk.TFS

Buna Nelu,

Impresionanta imaginea, atat prin peisajul surprins, dar si prin post procesare, care o face si mai spectaculoasa prin aspectul culorilor si luminii.

O zi frumoasa,
Sorina

Hi Nelu,

This sure brings back memories. I have been driving this road in a RV and it was unforgettable. However my pictures were not that good, so it is very nice to see the landscape how you captured it.
Great job.

Hello Nelu,
another great shot, looks a litte bit like European Dolomiti Mountains in Italy.

Hi Nelu,
Great shot. I remember this place from about 20 years ago. Great composition but I would have used less saturation of the colours. A simpler frame too. But that is just my personal preference, this is a very nice shot.

Imi place foarte tare verdele ala care se "prelinge" pe vai, imi plac norii si umbrele lor dar rama aia complicata nu-mi place deloc.

toate bune,

The photo is stunning Nelu. You have captured the various geology very well. I look from side to side and up and down to follow the geologic story. If I had to be picky, I would say that the frame is a distraction in this case. TFS. K2
