| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
This impressionistic image is actually the surface of a rather ordinary-looking metal table (with a glass surface on top) that sits in a dark-ish corner of the food court in the Dragon Mall.
The mall is located in one of Toronto's several Chinatowns, favourite places for me. (I have posted another Chinatown photo with some historical and cultural notes here on TrekEarth, and another photo (minus the big essay) here.
The image was captured with my lens a few inches away from the table's surface. Part of the reason it looks so bright despite the dingy setting, almost as though it were sitting in the sun instead of an underlit basement, is that the elecric ceiling lights are flaring off the glass.
Near the top left there are some interesting textures that are actually reflections of the grating over those same ceiling lights, and through the cut-out surface you can see the tiled floor of the mall.
Tech: No cropping. I used an extra layer to add some depth of colour, plus I increased the saturation generally, and the red in particular. |
