[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This image comes from the basement in the same Chinatown mall where I took Flare. In one corner a cramped, tiny space served as a video store, the entire surface of its windows and walls covered in a mass of overlapping, competing, rioting posters.

I love collage, from the dada and surrealist images created by Max Ernst (especially in his book Une Semaine de Bonte, a sample of which is here) to the modern pop art posters of Tadanori Yokoo like this and this.

In the case of this shop, collage approaches something like outsider art in a huge, wonderful, messy, assault on the senses that relies not one bit on formal training and yet achieves an impressive result. All of life's highs and lows are there is you look closely enough: love, enmity, wealth, poverty, loyalty, betrayal, ennui.

Tech: cropping, layering for depth of colour, and I turned up the red and yellow hues (to make up for the inadequate image quality and bring them back to where they were in real life).
