Finally back on line after a spring break (^_^). But I am not the gift !!!!

I would like instead to give a small tip to all the mothers who have a child or a husband ( or mothers working on ships having a husband or sons waiting for them at home since a few women are indeed working on board ships even as Masters ).

I invite you to register to a free program. Just visit Web VTS Professional

Web VTS Professional (WVP) is a highly sophisticated web-based marine traffic monitoring system for ports and other organizations interested in monitoring real-time or historical vessel traffic. The only difference between Web VTS Professional and Web VTS Professional Plus is that Web VTS Professional cannot send safety or virtual AtoN messages.
WVP is a great choice for ports or other organizations who want to monitor vessel traffic but do not need to send safety or virtual AtoN messages.

For Example ; Here, a familiar ship is back in port this year. Once again , she will be on a shuttle service between menominee, Wisconsin and Becancour,Qc. Carrying windmills sections South of the border, building up a windmill farm over there.

You may track her 24 hours/day 7 days a week LIVE in our Great lakes waters and St-Lawrence waterway system.

You live on the waterfront, you want to know the traffic passing in your neighborhood? Where is your husband's ship ? And it is not only working in America, but also in Northern Europe , West Africa , Greece, South France , Brazil. The network is growing up fast ! See by yourself .

Now technically . it was 05:45 in the morning , The sun was rising on a chilly morning. Flash used to illuminate the bow of the ship in the foreground ( the MV Bluebill ) Well, if you do it fast, using the program mentioned above , you will see the ship is still there while the BBC Elbe is underway to Menominee. I did modify the left portion a bit, adjusting luminosity , selective color corrections. I like the mood created by the diesel fumes around the working tug.
View the map to find out where I am.

I do not have to add , it is always a pleasure to deal with the crew of this ship. Jolly good fellow the Master. Like TL , the community of workers is international. The port captain assisting the ship operators and crew is a kiwi (^_^), living in Canada for many years. I was wondering from where he got this cute accent (*_^).

Previous posts of the BBC Elbe taken in 2007 and here also .

So once again, Happy Mothers Day to all Mothers around this tiny planet.

17:00 hrs Another ship just sailed ( a Dutch one registered in Delfzijl ) Does this name ring a bell ?

Welcome back ;-)

Great note and a super, unusual POV for this shot. Nice framing from the rusty red hull, an unusual composition that works well. Lovely blend of colours in this image with lots of litte points of interest such as the numbers on the right.

(FYI mother's day in the UK is in March...Mrs Arab tries to claim both. Which kinda means I forget it twice each year and get twice as much grief...sigh...)

Fabuleux!
Le contraste des couleurs est remarquable.
Beaucoup de luminosité aussi.
Bravo!

Robert,
What a great shot! The P.O.V. and composition are really wonderful and the colors are amazing.

Great marine scene. Intense colours and fascinating details. The foreground adds an abstract element that is very appealing.

Hi Robert,

It's not a ship in a bottle, but a ship in a monitor!! Thanks for the mother's day wish (I have two sons... 17 and 20).

I really like the perspective you have chosen. The colors on the right are very interesting with the rust, etc...

Also, I found your note to be interesting. I'll have to check it from time to time. What an interesting career you have!!

regards, Lisa

Bonjour Robert,

Bien vu

hi Perry

Good to see you back. A good post for Mother's Day.

Very good sharpness and fine colorful contrast even with the rust. The FG has given a nice outline and 'window' to your main subject. Great composition.

tfs, bill

Hi Robert,

We're back at the vessels! A very pleasant colour punch to this photograph. Nice!! Though I'm not sure how many mothers will take this virtual trip with you ;-).

Greetings!
Dennis

Hi Robert,
and hat's off to you :-))

The composition is very attractive.
I like the overlap, side framing and design.
Colours are a visual treat and the tonal range is nicely broad.
Great image sharpness and overall high quality.
