Formula 1 Grand Prix of Montreal

First I will be back tomorrow with replies and critiques. Thanks for the visits for my last post. they are much appreciated.

Having to practice with my new gear, I took a few shots during my three days at the circuit Gilles Villeneuve. More or less 22 GB......4100 photos (^_^).

Most of them were taken from my own seat where I patiently observed all practices, qualify sessions and races of the weekend. Fortunately , I had a great POV to capture moments in the Senna Curve.

Auto Racing , like any racing makes only one winner, and all the others are loosers (^_^). This year in Montreal, well we had a few winners.
Beside Robert Kubica who finished first ( BMW), his team mate finished 2nd. A first for the BMW Team. The biggest looser was not Lewis Hamilton ( McLaren), but Nick Heidfeld.... He was and is still certainly very disappointed that he did not score the first BMW victory. If you saw the GP, the podium ceremonies and press conference, the ambiance was not that great between both pilots.

In Montreal, David Coulthard, the sympathic Scottsman was certainly a great winner! After all he scored his first points of the season after a serie of bad luck and incidents in previous races. To be honest the 121,000 spectators who attended on Sunday were cheering warmly this unexpected trio on the podium. Quite refreshing to see other colors than Reds and Silver teams.

Here again, David was passing in front of us, after finishing third. I am adding a photo as a workshop soon (^_^). Obviously , he was delighted of his result. A one stop strategy was the right choice for him. With the help of the safety car , and the problems between the leaders in pitlane, he avoided incidents on and off track.

Note here his soft tires are looking like slicks. Of course , now he was collecting as much gum residues as possible outside the race line to ensure the car will not be underweight passing on the FIA scale during post race inspection.

Technically: Image cropped once again. I did have all the car, but there was just too much grass above. I opted to give more focus on David . The pilot here is more the star than the car.

Cheers!
Robert

This one is for Richard ( our Kilted-Arab ) who will enjoy the first Singapore GP soon.

Next round : the French GP June 22nd !

Ha! Thanks for this :-)

The tight crop works for me, we see more of the detail - and gotta love that wee wave, almost as though it is directed at us :-)

Amazing how low in the cockpit the drivers are - this shows that asoect very clearly. I also love the detail on the tires - cute title as well :-)

Excellent composition, great details!
This was your new gear practice? Wonder someday if you already get use to it, I couldn't tell.
TFS!

Bonjour Robert :)

Hé bien, félicitations pour cette belle capture. J'aime beaucoup le cadre serré qui fonctionne bien ici et une belle netteté remarquable. J'aime bien la petite main en l'air. Bravo pour cette photo.

Merci!

Amicalement,
Josée

Hey Robert,

Another well-timed photo. I especially like the "marbles" on the tire. I was wondering if that wasn't a problem until I read your explanation. In F1 every gram counts and you certainly don't want to be caught underweight- but really, how much weight can you add with picking up some rubber marbles? At the end of the race, do all the cars try to do this? (Do they run out of marbles?)
Regards,
Randy
PS. I expect to be in Peynier next spring and I'm giving some thought to organizing a TE/TL meeting. Can I count on you?

Hi Robert,
Excellent capture of the winner! Like the close up here and all the details. The left front tire clearly show wear marks, which makes it an interesting picture. The sharpness is superb here! See you enjoyed the race might be a time I can join you and Marion.
