Hi Karen,
The pose is priceless! Great idea to do it in Balck&White. The sharpness lacks a bit though, apparently you focused on the tip of her nose in stead of the eyes. The glance of her eyes is atad blurry. Nevertheless is the overall impression fine in my opinion. A nice posting Karen!

dear Karen,
the human generally remembers obvious conscious memories from about 3 or 4 years old, I don't know she could remember to be taken this shot, but about me, I clearly remember my portraits when I was 3 or 4 years, even how I was taken and what feeling I was.
in my feeling, she is never smiling, she looks having something strange, and her eyes in the shadow express something sad. the sadness makes beautifulness after the adolescence, her feeling of sad seems pure loneliness to me.
