I'm not religious, and this image isn't intended to promote Christianity (or, for that matter, to put it down). I'm posting it for a couple of reasons.
First, I like it visually. It has a simplicity that appeals to me. For a lot of people it's probably TOO simple, but there's no accounting for taste. It also has some gothic elements (gothic in the classic sense): the rampart-like church roof, the darkness, and the bare tree branches that seem to cradle the cross. (Tech: cropping, a very slight amount of playing with curves which affected the colouring on the branches but not of the cross.)
Secondly and at least as importantly, despite not being religious I love gospel music. It is one of the foundational musics of America, with deep roots in both European spiritual traditions and African musical culture. When it's performed by a skilled musician who is also devout, it has the power of both virtuosity and faith behind it, a double-barrelled shot that sends shivers straight up your spine.
So this image is dedicated to the musicians who give me that shiver. Alphabetically and not playing favourites the list includes: Dorothy Love Coates, Mary Johnson Davis, Bessie Folk, Aretha Franklin, Gladys Beamon Gregory, Goldia Haynes, The Edwin Hawkins Singers, Mahalia Jackson, Marie Knight, Cora Martin, Roberta Martin, Jessie Mae Renfro, Lucy Smith, Willie Mae Ford Smith, The Staple Singers, Frances Steadman, Sister Rosetta Tharpe, Clara Ward, Marion Williams.
