I love the cropping here Silke! We are both focused on things that fly! Moving UP is the only way to go. Sometimes when you are down, at the bottom of the well, at least you can say you are looking up and it’s the only way to go! Love the sky here, you did a great job capturing this! Someday I want to try this! I’m really enjoying your pics from the trip. Someday, when you and I are rich, we will travel the world together! Keep looking up darlin’!

I very much like the way the lines of the balloon go up off the edges of the shot Silke, so I would not change it. The over all effect is very “cool” and the fact that you can indeed see the flames in the balloon is pretty impressive. I also like the look on the peoples faces, adding the joy and excitement of the ride to the image. Excellent work.
Warmest regards

Silke,
I think the cropped area is fine. If you had gonne further, would loose the baloon dimension. Nice PS work and note.

Hi Silke, when I blocked off more of the basket & then tried the same with the balloon it took away the vibrance of the image,so I would be interested to see how this one could be improved.I like the facial expressions of the balloon riders, looks like they are having fun.

Silke,
I have to be honest. I think you should have given us the whole basket.
There is no way you could have gotten in the whole balloon and still capture the people's smiles like you have given us here (it's nice) but you could have with a full basket. I guess it looks a little odd to crop off such a small part of the basket when you only captured 20 of the balloon. Before opening the thumbnail I noticed this. When I opened it, I read your note and request and I HAD to respond. That's what TL is about. Sharing thoughts about improving photography.
I do like the subtle sunlight on the balloon and the fire from the propane. Overall, this is a very nice, fun photo with a bit too tight of crop.
I bet you can't wait to float in one of these!
I hope your "up and and at 'em" soon!

I really like the crop and full frame on this Silke.
The placement of the balloon creates some wonderful lines.
Great adventurous photo. Well done.

Hi Silke,
The cropping is fine to me, giving the impression you wanted to present. Very well exposed - I can see the flame, clearly. The happy expression of the couple is a bonus. Very nice photo. BTW, you will be the one riding on it and Linda will take a shot of you, some day. :)
Regards,
Ramdan.

Hi Silke,
What I like more here, is the great subtlety of blue colors, the capture of fire into the balloon, the fine texture on the basket and the joy of people! In short, I like all in this photo!
Best regards! Annie

Hi Silke,
No I don't think you should have cropped tighter as In My Opinion I think you have cropped a little too tightly by cropping the bottom of the basket, other than that I think the shot is great with good colours and sharpness, it's good that you have been able to catch the smiles of the passangers and the flame from the burner.
Well done

Hello Silke,
This is an excellent shot and IMO the way you have cropped and presented it is spot on!
I love the diverging lines which give a real feeling of uplift and because it is not perfectly vertical, it seems to add movement.
The body language of the people adds a lot to the overall effect.
Kind regards,
Bev :-)

Very atractive picture, Silke.
Maybe the bottom more up, so the balloon is really in the sky ?

Very good focus Silke. And the colours and details stand out well too.
I would have preferred to have a bit more space under the basket - that would definitely show it was flying.
Well captured image - as we can also see the flames going up inside the balloon too. And you caught the the expressions on their faces too.
The family gave me a trip in one on my 50th birthday (not so very long ago!!)What fun and excitement that was. What struck me was the silence. Only the whoosh of the flame made any noise. And the faint sounds from the ground. You don't feel the wind as you move with it.
Good memories

I agree with SCott on the crop Silke but I do like the colour and detail you achieved, even managing to get some of teh 'burn' in. Something I would like to try too but an hours ride down this way would set me back AU$200!
David
I agree wholeheartedly with Scott on this one, Silke... I'd definitely prefer to see the basket "detached" from the edge, it would enhance the sense of flying, of being detached from the ground anyway. Your work on the flame is subtle and the flame captured is very nice. As Scott said, there's a very pleasant sunlight glow on the canvas of the balloon, and the crop in the top part is very well chosen.
TFS
I can recommend a balloon flight warmheartedly, I had the chance to go last September and it's a smashing experience. There's no need to be afraid of heights, the basket is quite high. Which is also the reason that you have to be "fit", as you have to climb in - but also for the landing, which can be very "sportive": if the wind is hard, the basket will most likely flip over on its side. But don't let that scare you ☺^☺... and do bring your camera along. You'll love it!
