This is a huge experiment for me! We were caught in a rainstorm on the road and I wanted to try to capture the feeling of traffic in rain – the water and the red lights of cars in front of me. While Roy drove, I shot. This is one of about 50 pictures, each one with a very different aspect.

Tech: Captured in raw; then using Photoshop CS2: adjusted levels, colour saturation and contrast in raw, converted to jpg, cropped severely, resized, selected raindrops and sharpened, selected window and blurred, added signature

Thanks for looking and for all your critiques, workshops and suggestions. Have a healthy, happy, safe week.

This is INCREDIBLY artistic and so different for you Silke! I'm proud of you for doing this! Love the comp, just from the rain drops! Nice sharpness, powerful red in this! I like it!

Hello Silke,

First thing that I noticed is that you were not driving... hehe. Drive and shoot is not the best in my opinion. And you have beautifully captured a feeling, a sense, a moment of stromy weather in this frame. Well done.

Thanks for sharing this image.

This is very different and very clever. Before I read your notes Silke, I thought the red was some artifact you introduced via PS. Then it all made sense by reading the notes!! Very creative well done.

Hi Silke
Wonderful Red
Great reflected and good details
Beautiful composition
A very good job
Regards
Vincenzo

Ahh yes, I am getting traffic in the rain for sure Silke.
Very cool idea. I like how the drops feel wind blown.
And the little red reflections are perfect touch.
Great idea. Well done.

Hi Silke

its great to try something new and this really paid off nicely. With an abstract feel to it I like the random warmth of the red lights and thier contrast to the cold grey droplets.

TFS regards Helen

Hi Silke, good experiment... I am all in favour of new things... this looks like 3D.. on my screen it stands out well, nice "not" to see a frame either!! Personally, I feel this is one of your more interesting images.. regards h

Hello Silke

Visual and different beautiful forms of the drops.
I begin her, I thought to be mercury.
The effect of the points in red gave a beautiful look!
the colors in ash lead are great for this effect.
Congratulations

Okay, this is where I show my lack of photographic knowledge
I'm not being sarcastic Silke,I'm very much aware of your photographic talents,so I know this is special because you are the author of it & not because I understand it,because I don't,so could you enlighten me please, as I really would like to see this as you intended it to be seen, helps me learn
& to grow.
Warm Regards

Ron

Well done Silke

Hello Silke,

I once took a shot like this, but didn't have the bravery to post it! It seemed too avant garde! However, yours has much more interest because you have the reflected red lights!

A great experiment. This shot can be perceived in many ways, a bit like an optical illusion!

Kind regards,
Bev :-)

Hello Silke
Oh I missed this one... I love the nice bright RED colors! Nice experiment! wonderful post

Tricia

i like the abstractness of the photo Silke. for some it doesnt make sense but it really does bring a sense of foreboding. like you wipe the fog in front of you and you see a hint of red, not really sure what it is, could be anything. This photo is open for everyones interpretation.
this caught my attention on the thumbnail more than anything else.

Well, I've seen so much rain here lately that I can't believe that it's nice to see more, but this is pretty cool. I've thought of doing this but never have---usually driving, so that wouldn't be good. ;)
Very nicely imagined and presented.

Wilt
