[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I am terrified of wasps, to tell you the truth. I walked into a wasps nest in the ground when I was about 11 years old and was stung between 35 and 40 times. It is not a memory than one can easily erase.
But when I am behind the lens, I can dare to do things I could not do otherwise.
I was in my sister’s garden, looking for some nice shots of the raspberries she grows. As I zoomed in, I realized that one wasp had decided that this was a great place for a feast. I snapped several pictures of it, though it was moving quite quickly. This is one of the three that seemed to come out reasonably well. You can see how the creature’s enthusiasm has shredded the fruit :)

Tech: Captured in raw; then using Photoshop CS2: adjusted levels, colour saturation and contrast in raw, converted to jpg, cropped all around, resized, sharpened subject only and signed

HAHA! This just crawls all over me! I am afraid too! But I understand! This is super sharp, doesn't look delicious to me, but to each his own! LOL! Love your DOF and the little heart hanging down is so nice!

I am terrified of wasps too. I was stung with just one & know how it's feel.You are very brave specially after having been stung so many times.

I think I would be a little wary of going near them to if I had that experience Silke.
Sharp detailed macro,& you caught the light perfectly,I'm also impressed with that Sigma lens optics,this is really sharp.

Hello Silke,

I had a similar fear of wasps because of being stung badly as a child. It was a fear I battled to overcome as when you are in a classroom of children you cannot display fear or there would be a pandemonium!

This is a great where the details are excellent. I love how the light appears to be putting him under the spotlight and making a lovely sheen on his wings!

So I am not the only one who finds that a camera has magical powers. i have one in my files that I am so proud of myself for but haven't shared yet. This is beautiful great details and color and congrats on facing a fear. TFs

Same here Silke, I only was stung once in the back of my knee - but that was quite enough - must have been terrible what you experienced.

I love the light and colours here, Silke. You were very brave to have captured him, but he was more interested in his lunch than you, this time. The detail on this is very impressive and perfectly presented. Lovley just lovley.

Bee stngs I am allergic to Silke but I have never been stung by a wasp. An excellent close up with good detail and colour in the wasp itself.

We have a variety of wasp here which is very prevalent, Sandy and her girls are all allergic to the sting.
