[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This was actually a tough decision because I started out with what was already an abstract image: a macro of a stained glass window and the way it changed (and was changed by) the garden beyond – but it seemed to want to be a little MORE abstract (so I am posting the in-between stage as a workshop)

Tech: Captured in raw; then using Photoshop CS2: adjusted levels, colour saturation and contrast in raw, converted to jpg, converted cool blues and greens to warmer tones using the Hue slider in “colour saturation”, resized, framed and signed for WS version, then selected just the portion inside the frame and applied a rippled glass filter (which necessitated resaving at a greater compression level with an accompanying loss in quality)

Thanks for looking and for all your critiques, workshops and suggestions. Have a healthy, happy, safe week.

Lovely presentation for the theme. Colourfull image.
Best wishes,

Hi Silke,
Very interesting presentation of an abstract work. I like the colors and form, and the composition too. I am not so good in abstract thing, but I like the original shot in workshop, as it is also something I believe to be an abstract. Wonderful addition to the theme.

Regards,
Ramdan.

Hello Silke,

I think you made the right decision, my friend. The final version looks much more like a stained glass than the w/s. Very nice pp work and well presented.

Kind regards,

I know I put in a critique this morning!! I know I did... Where is it?

I remember asking if you take orders, as I want to put in an order for this stained glass window please.

The golden colours stand out so prettily Silke, and I especially like how the garden flowers show up at the lower end.

When can I pick the finished window up?

Hi Silke,

Indeed, you can not go wrong when you start with an abstract - so you just follow the rules for the theme. Indeed the added effect provides you with just that bit extra - loss in quality does not really matter with this effect. I think you could have chosen any number of effect - the colours sure are warm.

Still smiling when thinking of the phonecall!
Kind of "saved by the phone".

I like the double abstract, Silke. It is very simple and perfect for the theme. I am not good at the abstract so really struggled to know what is appropriate, you choose perfectly. Well presented .
Warm Regards
Wanda

Hello Silke

I like effects of the glass.
the strong and lukewarm colors mold well
the tulip behind.
He reminds me stained glass church windows.
Beautiful visual and beautiful pp work.
Congratulations!

I like the textured effect for this image, and the warm colors are perfect for the theme. Not sure about the black strip on the right, but realize it adds contrast for extra visual impact. Perhaps I would like it better if the stroke line were on the inner side of the strip instead of the outer, helping the sudden transition along that crisp line. Well, just a thought:) It's an appealing image with warm style. Nice work.

Hello Silke

A very well seen and presented image for the theme, very much an abstract shot and most helpful that you added the workshop to assist others to learn from your tecniques

TFS and for joining in the theme

Kind regards Helen

Either or Silke, both very effective but this is by far the more abstract. Good colour and clever PP work,
David
