It is a long weekend here in Ontario - Tomorrow is Simcoe Day (which is really just an excuse for a long weekend in the middle of summer:)), but I will explain more about that with tomorrow's picture ;-)

Yesterday's weather was very unsettled. When Roy and I left the house, I got into the car safely, but while he was locking the front door, the skies opened up and he got soaked, even though there was blue skies all around us :) Some of the innocent clouds in this picture carried rain too -- so I got lots of pictures with very mixed light. When I shot this, the trees and I were in shadow and the field was sunny, but I liked the effect and I hope you do too. (Sorry about the dof, I had accidentally left my aperture at f/6.3 after trying to take a picture of a pair of deer wandering across the road just minutes before)

Tech: Captured in raw and adjusted levels, contrast & saturation in raw with PhotoShop CS2, converted to jpg, resized, sharpened and signed

Thanks for looking and for all your critiques, workshops and suggestions. Have a healthy, happy, and safe weekend.

Nice work Silke, you managed well, shooting from shade to sunlight. I love their fence here, really nice wood work! Can't wait to see the deer! Glad you had a great day!
B-)
Linda

Hi Silke,
Wonderful,congratulation.
Ralf

Hi Silke,
The picture is taken during difficult light circumstances, high contrast with harsh shaddows. Nevertheless you succed well, no OE or UE. A fine peaceful image excellent natural colours. One nit pick about the composition though; the tree on the left is cut, I prefer to see the whole tree. Nevertheless a fine posting my dear!

Silke Hi:
This is a marvelous, mid summer nature image. Love the gate to the field of corn and the detials, clarity and colors of your composition with a wonderful sky. This is a very neat farmer and one that cares about his work and you (who cares about your work) very presented it impressively.
Congratulations, very nicely done.

I like the natural look to this Silke. This is how summer in Ontario is, with shade and sun, altering with the trees and clouds. The colours are true and the composition very pleasant. Well done. Today is even more cloudy and rain threatening and I have a qualifier :(. Have a great weekend.
Warmest Regards
Wanda

Hello Silke,

They are so tranquil, rural surroundings like here!
The trees... the field... the old fence, what more does it take to feel some peace in mind?
Lovely details, and the fluffy clouds are well exposed and very attractive!

Greetings,
Pablo -

A peacefully shot, I like it very much Silke. As usual the same clearness and it smells summer.

Iso.

Hi Silke,

This is a lovely landscape. I like the way you have used the two different trees to border the sky. Also the fence and gate are different from the "norm". The clarity and detail of the "corn" (I'm a city girl lol) is so sharp.

Enjoy your day off tomorrow, Lisa

Hello Silke
Three cheers for the: composition, lighting, contrast and clarity. As usual you mastered them all.

Hello Silke

A simple but very beautiful compo here, less is more in this case, lovely peaceful POV with good use of light and shaded areas, wonderful summer feel here with nice natural colours and just look at that lovely sky :-)

TFS kind regards Helen

Hi Silke, this is a nice scene of the cornfield. Those wooden fences are not what we are used to down under - more like barbed wire for us!! But the white gate is eye-catching.
I have done a workshop for you. I feel the area on the right is waste space and my eye keeps getting drawn to it. The WS brings out the white gate and the field of corn.
I hope you think so too.
Cheers
Janice

Hi Silke,
I am looking into this photo, thinking and imagining myself sitting on a bench under a shade enjoying the beautiful light and blue skies - yes Silke, that mixed light is the beauty of this composition - love the peaceful mood here.

IMO, the f/6.3 didn't hurt the clarity.
Regards,
Ramdan.

Nice to see that fences and gates in Canada are like those here in Australia...not level :). Excellent work with the light and shade Silke, a good POV and fine detail. A healthy looking corn crop too,
David

PS I saw somewhere something about a new job?

lovely rural ambience, simple and effective composition. And the corn field! T>Y> Janos
