On Sunday we thought we'd explore a very small local lake that we stumbled across on our way home the day before. It had looked so blue and inviting from the road.
What we found when we got there was considerably less idyllic. The regional authorities are trying to restore the environment and had fenced off the lake alongside the park so that the man-made beach could slowly revert to its natural state (better for the wildlife). But the park visitors are not happy about that, and had ripped through the fence in many places so that the only evidence of wildlife were the piles of goose droppings along the shore. Two large dogs were being exercised by their owners who threw balls out into the water for the dogs to retrieve: fine exercise for the dogs, but not a safe haven for the waterfowl :(

I found this along the shore and thought it would work for our Friday theme "Floating," for it seems that despite our government's best intentions the question is still: will we sink under the weight of our own pollution or manage to slowly float back to the surface?
Not a happy posting, but I hope it will help us all to stop and think.

This is a great way to bring to the forefront the problem of pollution Silke. Love the clarity in the water, and there you have your cowboy hat to wear! Hope you wore it all day! Nice work on this and a great shot for the floating theme!
B-)

Hi Silke,
Good message to all humanbeings about pollution.
Really an artwork with color harmony, diagonal lines on the water.
No need any other word than "perfect".

Hello Silke

Simple, of the Nature you made an excellent picture
Interesting, the times the tide returns us here in the beach strange things, but it had never repaired with other eyes.
I will try to have more attention to that!
Congratulations, great entrance to the theme!
Poor lonely hat!

Very cool signature Silke! I love it...
Your words really stick imho due to the start of the Olympics tomorrow and all the issues our (the worlds) athletes are having...
I like what you saw.. Even nature is holding us back ...

HI Silke
I fear that its a hopeless cause as we live in society that is now much too fast and out of control.

Your picture makes good use of items, to achieves the effect. We can't help but say 'what a shame'. At least there were no srynges which is often found on beaches.
Great picture and message for the theme

Well at least the water is still clear, pity about the pollution on the beach area,it would be nice if this image would change peoples actions,we all need to be more responsible.I like your composition Silke, very strong, leaves a message for sure.

It's always interesting and fun to see the ideas people come up with for the Friday themes, yours is a great idea! A sad situation, but an excellent picture. I do like that hat :)

Whjat a very 'brown' sad-looking scene Silke. The water lapping the derelict hat and even the old bucket look brown and sludgy. The stick lying on the hat makes me think it might have been a walking stick - I hope the owner of them both hasn't disappeared out there in the waters!!
Pollution - a world-wide problem
Well captured

A rather sad looking photo Silke, you have captured this problem very well..and one does wonder where the owner of the hat is!?

Thanks for sharing.
Cheers

Hi Silke,
An interesting shot for the floating theme. This is not just about the beauty of a photo, but the quality of message it conveys. Very good message - one of the tiring issue here in my city is the disappointing pollution of the water.

Another interesting diagonal composition. Love the placement of the hat as well.

Regards,
Ramdan.

Hi Silke,
Je me suis d'abord demandé:
Où est le vieillard à qui appartient ce chapeau et cette canne qui flotte sur cette rive?
Puis en lisant ta note j'ai reconnue le lac près de chez moi aussi et senti la même désolation...
Merci pour le partage et le message,
Dany

hiya Silke

A very thought provoking capture here, good lighting and fantastic detail, the water is really amazing.

TFS and for joining in the theme

kindr regards Helen

First a lost sock and now someones hat Silke, at this rate you will be able to open a store. Very well composed and good clarity, you worked the light well. WIth my scenes from the Tamar I try and avoid showing the fltsam and jetsum that floats around on the tide.
David

hello Silky,

A photograph with a message!
Perfect composition and I like how you have captured the twinkling details of the light reflecting on the water.

Kind regards,
Bev :-)

Hi Silke..very nice shot. Excellent composition..great details and sharpness.

As always Silke, I don't have time to comment every photo.
( not day by day )
Not only from you.
But when, I browse the new ones.

This one I draw my attention : my kind of humor ... hihi
Love the compo, colours, ...
It's " simple ", no title needed
So frame it ! :-)
