[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
While I was waiting for a meeting yesterday, I took a few shots of the life in the community garden of the church. It has been a record summer for rainfall, so the bees are hard at work in between the showers. This one was harvesting nectar at the heart of a squash blossom.

Tech: Captured in raw and adjusted levels, contrast & saturation in raw with PhotoShop CS2, converted to jpg, resized, sharpened, framed very lightly by creating an identical layer, then erasing the background within the area I wanted to frame and making the top layer slightly transparent, and finally signed

Thanks for looking and for all your critiques, workshops and suggestions. Have a healthy, happy, and safe week.

Ahhh!! he is covered in pollen!! Marvelous shot Silke! Definately the coolest macro I've seen in a while! The details are amazing, I can see every spec! Nice work on this one! Sometimes you have to gather in all you can, for the times when there is nothing coming your way! But never fear, Manna from heaven falls!

Hi Silke,
This photo makes me think at Icare near of the sun!
Or at the head of a bird with the wind blowing behind him and bringing back its feathers ahead.
Finally, this gorgeous flower is so evocative! :)
Fine details of pollen on the bee. Your PP work makes a great depth at this macro! The sun is not very present this Summer, so the bee must do quickly if it want to have big honey reserves.
Bravo! Annie

Hi Silke,
...and you'd better be fast because it don't shine to much this summer . Good close up . They are always in movement and not easy to catch . Nice fine details on the flower .
Daniel

Hello Silke,

A very good macro of the bee tackling the stigma of the flower.
The details of the flower with its tiny hairs and radiating ridges are excellent. In fact, the centre of the flower resembles a duck's head!
The bee is just covered in pollen.
Good evidence of its importance in the life of plants!

Kind regards,
Bev :-)

hey, wait a minute!....what a shot is this!
it's stunning....really stunning, Silke.
one of the best macro shots here in TL, i must say, and you did a superb capture here.
pity bee....it must have thought it was peaceful inside there until your preying lens caught it deep inside there!...:)

well done.

Hi Silke,
LOVE ALL THE YELLOW and soft tones of this. The bee looks to be in heaven. Nicely done and TFS Julie

The thumbnail made me think about a goose!
Imagination can be very odd, sometimes..!
Anyway, very strong close-up on the details of insect and flower, the overall yellow tones are full of summer fashion!

hello Silke

Very powerful close up macro of the flower and bee. It looks more like a home with a bee nested in, especially when we only see the yellow wall all around. A fine post.

Hi Silke,

So you are also experiencing a record rainfall, as do we here.
And indeed the bees get busy as soon as it is dry.
Lovely to see all that pollen on his body and inside the bright yellow flower.
