I watched the Fire Ball ride for a while and took a series of photos looking for the best angle on the action and the best timing for the swing. When I opened this one up, it struck me that it looked like a giant claw - hence the title.
If you look closely at the "claw," you will see the people in the seats. An enlargement of original shows hair flying and mouths open in perpetual screams -- this is NOT my kind of fun!
Two workshop photos show slightly closer views of the kids.
But I hope you like the capture per se. It is not on my list of things to reshoot next week.
I am taking the wife of a friend with me when I return to the CNE (Canadian National Exhibition, also known as "The Ex") next week. We have set up two dates in case the weather betrays us on the first one, and we are planning to stay until after dark for a different point of view on the whole.
And then I am going to try to persuade her (with her lovely new Nikon D40) to join TrekLens and show off what she can do.

:)

Not my kind of fun either Silke! Yikes! I would have to be hospitalized after this one! LOVE your blue skies in this series! Excellent sharpness, that thing just makes me ill, looking at it! Nice work!
B-)
Linda

Just last week we had our anual "kermis" in Hoorn and this same monster was there too.
My collegue talked me into taking a ride with him... so.. finally I handed my camera over to Rob and he tried some shots while I was in that HORRIBLE machine (in the dark! and so darn close to the old church that I feard for my feet!)
Got out alive, fortunately and my feet were ok....

Lovely colors and sharpness Silke and you were very lucky to have such a wonderful clear sky.
That really completes the fairground feeling!
Nice framing too.

Cheers,
Anneke

Great lines, and insteresting form.
Well done.

It does look like a giant drill for a mining company,a very strong image Silke, this smaller size does not let us see the thrill that the people are getting from it,would it be possible to put a view of their reaction to the ride into your workshop?

Nice action, Silke, and beautiful colours all around. Freaky font too, by the way. Good details, a pity we lose so much when downsizing for tl...

hi silke, again, amazing details and colors, these are all so nice to look at, nice work,
tfs,
ps ...wouldn't catch me on one of these freaky things!!!!

Bonsoir Silke,
I can't imagine me on a deadly machine like this, fatal for me and what my body contains lolll, this isn't a fun but a real torture.
I like the angle formed by the arm of this attraction and that you have chosen to show us. All his legs which seem to escape. And the colors are those of fair skies with bright blue intensity.
The frame is well but also for me, I like less the choice of putting such a big Gotcha ;O| draws too much attention but this is my personal choice
TFS, heartily

No WAY!! You'll NEVER get me one of these machines. I feel sick just looking at it. I agree, - this is NOT my kind of fun!
I prefer the wheel in the BG
All those tiny lights on the arms make me think this is over-sharpened - but it's just the shadows I think.
Super blue sky -haven't seen a good one like that for a long time down under.

Hi Silke

The Fire Ball ride looks like an arm with a claw, so very aptly titled. Marvellous saturated colour, with superb sharpness & text placement. Well done!

Hi Silke
Very nice serie of this fairground attraction.
Gr Jos

It does look that way Silke, I was even looking for an object within the 'claw'. Good colour and an excellent POV to capture the ride,
